Do you think Trask comes back?
Not a chance.
Juniors: Pitts and I can see Copeland doing it even though coaches and scouts will advise against it.
I don’t see any seniors returning for that free year unless you are someone that has zero shot at the NFL.
Early? Pitts. Could take another year because of the change in rules? Most likely Dunlap. I would like to say Shawn Davis and Heggie but it depends on 1) is another year going to change their draft position and 2) would they have the jobs they want next year?
If Trask stays, Jones leaves. I don't think Trask staying is a given at all.
Or a shot at a championship and a Heisman you narrowly missed this weird season?
He will have less weapons available. I think Trask rides off into the sunset.
With the same defense, we won’t win anything.
Man, I'd love to see Trask back and I think it's worth losing EJ but I don't see it. Hard to imagine him outdoing himself next year and I'd hate for him to hurt his draft stock.
Trask and his Heisman will be taken in the first round of the NFL draft. No way he comes back, nor should he. I don't see any impact player coming back that is likely to be drafted with the possible exception of Wilson. He hurt his draft stock alot last week and would probably come back as a senior in an effort to build it back up.
I wouldn’t want him back.
On O as much as I'd kill for a return, the 1st & 2nd round picks should go pro. Everyone else should return BUT DeLance.
On D, as long as TG & Marco go... Well bye. I can see Carter leaving & having a solid career. Davis wouldn't hurt to stay, but the others Stiner & Stewart should transfer so our young bucks can shine. But would murder to have any DT stay for BADLY needed depth.
From the sounds of it we may know pretty well by the bowl game.
Impossible to have the same defense
Going to the NFL and leaving are totally different. Is the NCAA going to enforce the 85 scholarship limit?
I don't see any way Trask is returning. His value can't get much higher and there is a downside if he gets hurt. His age will also start working against him. Not as old as Weinke but getting there.
Anyone not in the two deep will likely transfer, which is probably a good thing. The biggest concern is at DT if both Slaton and Campbell bolt. Not sure how they are viewed by the NFL as they are totally different.
We could have as many as 3 new OL starters (White, Braun and Tarquin). What will happen to DeLance. Would Mullen force him out if he opts to return?
Like I answer this question every year:
Everyone we expect to be gone will be gone. Trask is the most likely to stay. If he stay Jones leaves but honestly so what? Trask > Jones anyways.
No way Trask returns. He had an amazing year and his draft stock will likely never be higher. Plus he loses his go-to receivers. He will go in the first round. It really doesn't get better than that.
Selfishly I am sure every gator fan would love trust to come back. However, it is a mistake for him. He will not have the weapons (pitts/Toney) he had this year. He has nothing left to prove mentally. The physical part of his game will not change. Championships are fantastic and last a lifetime but they do not feed your family. If he is relying on football to feed his family then he should go make money now.
Pitts just made it official. Thanks KP for a great great season
Best of luck in the NFL.
IMO the ONLY reason he would stay is to play. He didn’t start in HS. He waited forever in college. And he wouldn’t be an initial starter in the NFL.
Trask should go. Coming back to chase a Heisman is a terrible idea.
