Scratch Klobuchar. She had a chance to prosecute the homicidal racist police officer for a previous offense, but didn't. It may not be fair to judge her that way, because the previous offense may not have been egregious enough (or had enough evidence) to warrant prosecution, but that won't matter. Her career is over.

Val Demmings is one of seven children of an orange grove worker and house keeper. There are not many police chiefs of big city departments that worked their way up from beat cop. She’s got a lot of qualities to offer that directly relate to the pain of what we are going through as a country.

Biden doesn’t seem like a risk taker to me.

So he’ll pick Harris or Warren, 2 “safe” party choices.

Could be Warren (secures Bernie Bros)and Harris gets SCOTUS seat. Or an AG slot. Fulfills promises.

much as I like Klobuchar, she’s out after the happenings in Minny this week.

Val Demmings doesn’t have a high enough name recognition outside of Florida. If Biden were to pick her, most people would say, “Who is that?”

There was a piece in the Atlantic about Susan Rice being considered.

Have to agree with Klobuchar now. That’s who I’d been speculating. But the Minny debacle will indeed bring her past front and center.

I believe Harris is out for the same basic reason.

I have no front runner now. But it MUST be someone who doesn’t have a sketchy prosecutorial background.

Warren may indeed be creeping up.

Warren is too liberal. She's also too old (IMO) and after years of campaigning, too threadbare. Choose young, dynamic, experienced, and moderate. I'm not sure if the candidate must be black, or just female. If she's not a household name, that's got an upside, too.

Agree Klobuchar probably just lost her shot at VP, which is too bad because she is very qualified. She has been very visible and vocal during this crisis, which is what you expect from a political leader.
Her career is not over as has been suggested, far from it. She is extremely popular in Minnesota.

Well I think Val is a pretty decent, quality person, is she really prepared to serve as Potus in the event Biden is incapacitated? Well I might vote for her for governor of Florida or a senator from Florida, Democrats must have someone more qualified than Val Demings for Veep.

Most people said "who is that guy" when Kaine and Pence were picked. The reality is few people could name many VP candidates of the past.
Demings may be an unlikely choice, but we seem to be in an era where extensive political experience just provides more opportunities to be criticized.

She’s got a degree in criminology and a Masters in Public Administration. She’s worked as a social worker. She worked 27 years in law enforcement. She’s served in Congress for four years.

That’s certainly a long career of public service. It beats real estate development and reality TV.

I’m definitely looking at her as a candidate through the lens of the current unrest. It depends on what we perceive to be critical competencies for the job.

There are a significant number of women qualified for the job. I think she’s probably one of them.

I highly doubt her career is over, but I do agree that she is much less likely to be VP.

Demmings was probably helped by the new events. I would still add Keisha Bottoms, Mayor of Atlanta (as long as the issues she apparently had with campaign funds don't look too ugly). She has been on the front lines of both this and the Georgia jogger shooting incident (as well as Covid). Still think Lujan Grisham has a shot as well if they decide to really push for Arizona and Texas (they won't win Texas, but it would be nice to improve the down-ballot situation there).

Hillary Clinton, Maxine Waters, and Nancy Pelosi are more qualified than Val Demmings.
