Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump's spur-of-the-moment decision to agree to a face-to-face meeting with North Korea leader Kim Jong Un represented an unprecedented opportunity, but also a huge risk, most recently highlighted by a case of cold feet on both sides.

Anticipation about the June 12 meeting in Singapore is turning to pessimism, as the complexity of the initiative, the stark divides between Washington and Pyongyang, and inconsistencies in the White House's approach to the meeting all become clear.

First, the Kim government threatened to pull out, blaming the "repugnance" of national security adviser John Bolton and his nuclear disarmament schemes.

Now Trump has switched from dreaming of Nobel prizes to warning that there is a "very substantial chance" that the meeting will not happen next month.

Trump's North Korea summit was a history-making gamble. Now it may not happen. - CNNPolitics

But Trump says he guarantees Kim Jong Un's safety if he'll make a deal. If the people of North Korea try to overthrow the POS, Trump will send in the troops to protect him. But there will no uprising, after a deal Trump says Kim will be happy, his people will be happy and prosperous.

I really can't blame Kim Jong Un for having second thoughts about dealing with a babbling idiot and buffoon.

Not a big deal one way or another IMO.

Might be better off like this, than getting played.

If this doesn’t happen there is zero chance he’ll run for a second term. The monumental failures to deliver will be at a precipice.

I don't see that at all. He claims victory for everything he did and didn't do.

If he doesn't run, its because he had to resign or got impeached.

Trump has been urging caution and indicated the continuation of maximum pressure from the outset. And he hasn't so much as mentioned the Nobel Peace prize. I wouldn't worry too much about the posturing at this point, or put very much stock in CNN's "analysis" (as ever). Time will tell.

I guess Fox will have to go back to claiming that meeting with North Korean is a terrible idea.

I bet Trump is pissed that Kim got labeled "Supreme Leader".

[Trump voice] "I want it changed. Make mine say Super Supreme Leader"

Its weird that they left South Korea off, since they are involved and are probably the most keen on something happening.

How can they get those facial images right and do Brandi Chastain so wrong? They need the coin guys involved in doing HOF plaques.

The Dems are feverishly hoping it doesn't. It would be an abject disaster for them if Trump is successful in this.

When the Trump acolytes were suggesting that the Donald had already earned the Nobel Peace Prize, I suggest that the cheers for the Donald have been a bit premature. Some of the other Trump acolytes have suggested that anyone who wasn't cheering for the Donald is hoping for failure. The more appropriate description would be that we are just being realistic. Still hoping for the best, but in the end it will probably depend on how many concessions Trump makes to President Xi of China who is the one player that can put enough pressure to force Kim into concessions.

Do you really believe the congressional Dems are actually pulling for Trump here?

Trump has accomplished more in a little more than a year than any president in history dismantling much of Obama's agenda.

    1) Conservative Supreme Court Justice. Check.
    2) Eliminate mandatory healthcare effectively dismantling ObamaCare. Check.
    3) Defeat ISIS. Check.
    4) Out of a horrible Iran deal. Check.
    5) Lowest unemployment for blacks and Hispanics ever! Check.
    6) Overall unemployment lowest in 18 years. Check.
    7) Largest reduction of government over regulation in history. Check.
    8) Wages up an average of 3%. Check.
    9) GDP up almost 50% from Obama's average. Check.
    10) Middle Eastern Countries (SA, Jordan) siding with Israel against Iran. Check.
    11) Lower corporate and individual taxes. Check.
    12) Companies moving their manufacturing back to the USA. Check

That's just off the top of my head City. Monumental failure my ass. North Korean deal would just be the cherry on top!

About the only failure so far is the wall and you certainly can't blame Trump for that.

False. If Trump can get this whack job into a room with him and talk to him face to face it will EASILY be the crowning achievement of his first term.
