Believe it or not, there were great players before we were born. Evolution just doesn’t happen in 50 years.

But changes in food production and nutrition has made them players a lot bigger and faster today.

And professional trainers from elementary school, age and year-round, travel ball. There’s no doubt my parents didn’t have the same Sports community to learn from that we did.

There’s a video out there with the new age golfers using the old wooden clubs and they were astonished that the older guys scored as well as they did using that equipment.

How about the backfield of QB Terry Lecount, FB Earl Carr, RB Tony Green, and RB Willie Wilder. Pure speed all of them.

I have followed this site for years but never post. I met Steve Tannen when we played a pick up basketball game in Norman Hall. He fouled me on one play, apologized and handed me the ball for a turnover. Was a neat person. In those days I was able to play pickup games with some of the basketball players in old Alligator Alley. Not many bodies in the gym in August. Lots of fond memories. Was at UF from 67-72 for three degrees and a gator bride. Was able to see many of those stars mentioned throughout this post first hand since we have been to many games over the years. Enjoy lurking on these threads and particularly appreciate candyman's input. I agree on the 1984 team as one of the best ever and I still have the T shirt showing 1984 SEC champs since they were from the fall of 84 until the title was stripped in spring of 85. So when you go to SEC championships and see list of champions, know that "Vacant"for 1984 = UF.

I saw Steve Tannen at the Super Show in Gainesville with Grand Funk, etc. He was a hip guy doing what other hip people were doing, but I'd never rat him out.
