the year was 1982
First home game of 1985 vs. Rutgers. Up 28-7 and Kerwin sits down in 3rd quarter and Rodney Brewer comes in. Before you know it, Rutgers scores 21 points and ties us up. It ended 28-28.
Rodney would also play a role in our loss to scUM when we were trying to reach the CWS for the first time.
Georgia with Wes Chandler and we lost a close game. 76 maybe, I’m not sure. Wes did score though.
The last time we were shutout. Let's hope it stays that way.
I grew up outside the USA, but I had an uncle who would send VHS tapes of Gator games along with the latest TV shows. I think the first VHS tape I watched was the "Run Lindsey, Run" game. Yeah. That one. Even though I hate hearing that phrase being replayed every year, that was my introduction to Gator football and I think of that tape fondly (at least the first 59 minutes of game time). The first game I watched in person was probably my first year of college: week 1 against New Mexico State in 1994 (70-21 victory). I did not see my first bowl game until my kids were older, the 2009-2010 Sugar Bowl (51-24 victory over Cincinnati).
1983, versus Kentucky in Gainesville. I was six. That was back when we knew how to beat Kentucky. Final score: 24-7 Gators.
1980. Not sure who it was. Maybe Mississippi State.
My wife, on the other hand, says she got dragged as a small child to all of her older brother's games, so, the 1971 12-6 loss to Duke in Tampa would have been her first.
First game 10/10/1955 LSU UF won 18-14 first win over LSU.
You all are old! First in person game was the season opener my freshman year in 2001 against Marshall with Byron Leftwich at quarterback.
2004 against Tennessee at Neyland when I was 8 years old. Me and my brother’s jerseys still have mustard stains on the back. Will never forget the Dallas Baker unsportsmanlike penalty
Same year for me but I missed the opener. First was next home game: Mississippi State.
Are you a Yankee?
Duke in 1969
Gators won and Carlos had a TD punt return
Game was in Jacksonville
In the Sombrero. Rich Campbell was Cal's QB.
My first game in The Swamp was October 24th 1992 vs Louisville, Shane Mathews was our QB and Steve Spurrier our coach, we won the game 31-17 Louisville were coached by Howard Schnellenberger!
1985 vs. Rutgers.. I had just moved to Florida from Knoxville, Tennessee. I was shocked that they tied us. I didn't even know who Rutgers was and I had been playing football since I was 8 years old.
1990 vs UGA. i like to think i started the trend...
1973. Gators beat Kansas State in Gainesville.
I was at that game, too. I was in flight school at Pensacola at the time and took a trip to Gainesville for Labor Day Weekend. September 11th happened the Tuesday after the following game if memory serves.
