DJ Lagway is good to go on all fronts. He was held out because he is so advanced that he does not need the practice and we needed to locate a viable backup. Go Gators!
I was told him being completely shut down for spring was an extreme case of precaution. The staff knows what is at stake this upcoming fall.
How are people still making this type of comment? Here's what we know. Napier is not the one making the decision here. It's the family and doctors driving the decision. The Lagway family requested keeping it quiet It was their decision to rest him. It's their decision whether or not to get surgery Napier has done nothing wrong but kind of bungled with the coach speak as he tried to respect the family's wishes Mods, can you please ban me if any of that is wrong but if it's right pin it to the top of the forum? For a month there I resubbed for the insider news and didn't read comments. It was going so well. But then I saw it's even worse than it was last summer. This summer we're not just spinning out. We're just echoing the same comments to each other even though more information has come out.
I'm not sure where in my comment does not align with your post. I just didn't want to get into granular details like you did. I was told the exact same granular points you just expressed here, except purposely kept it vague because specifically You alright man??? If anything, the staff respecting the wishes of the family is what perhaps may be misconstrued? They know what is at stake this upcoming season, and not being on the same page with the Lagway family is not a good path to go.
Maybe I misinterpreted your comment. It sounded like you were saying the decision was driven by some calculus by the staff knowing they need to win this season, which would imply throw / don't throw or surgery / no surgery was decided based on self preservation by the staff. I must have been mistaken. My comment was also expressing frustration that we are still beating that drum when it's clear Napier is doing exactly what he should be doing - prioritizing the health of his player and allowing the doctors and family completely drive the decision. Re-reading, your comment was perhaps more caution is good and Napier knows the stakes, rather than a response to the repeated conversation of "napier completely botched this (because he's incompetent)" versus "He's making this decision based on self preservation (because he's just in it for the paycheck)."
