Also keep in mind that when Trump was running in 2016 he said that he was very rich and could self-fund his campaign. He claimed that he didn't need contributions. While that was largely the case during the 2016 primaries even back then he didn't hesitate to accept long contributions from various Super PACs and other dark money sources once the general election campaign. Not that it's all that surprising, it's turning out that the proclaimed self-funder is probably the best presidential candidate that money can buy and yes there really is a swamp and it's the special interests funding political campaigns and the Donald is the swampiest of them all.
