Other than it smelt like Rupp in there with the home-cooking...
I am not one to think that the refs are against Florida, but I didn’t love the lack of foul calls when Florida drew contact inside.
only when we're on the road
It says they pounded the ball inside on every single possession, while we took 30 three point shots.
the game was lost when we didn’t make any adjustments to that for the first 15 minutes of the second half. They absolutely abused us inside and we never trapped to change the game flow (until it was too late), tried zone for one possession and then gave it up, and finally doubled up top a bit.
and, the last minutes are exactly why many of us have been screaming for press this year. We were a different team when we went to it, even with the lapses.
kids fought hard though, credit to them. Hopefully they take the positives into Saturday. Gonna need it.
Some iffy ones for sure, but LSU was by far the more aggressive team driving the ball and pounding paint post ups, thus why they shot more FT. 30 3's for us is too many
Spot on 100%. And zero chance we press more. Won't happen, especially vs Baylor guards
Can hear the disdain in Mick Hubert’s voice when he mentions Nance - one of the refs tonight.
one LSU player did kick out his leg on a 3 to draw a foul. Thought that was now frowned upon?
This may be a huge factor. The Gators have faired much better in games when shooting fewer than 20 threes.
Needed the 3’s for the comeback.
LSU was just more aggressive going to the basket. KJ is the only guy we have who goes hard to the basket.
I think this was by design since KBJ had the flu and Payne in foul trouble.
We did hit 11 of them (36.7%) and Keyontae's 3s are what got us back in the game late, but agree that's too many attempts. Also Blackshear hit his first 2 attempts, so perhaps we got a little 3 happy...
One thing still stands out and that was poor ball handling at times. Eliminate that and we win this game.
AN took 2 or 3 that were not great looks in the sense that he wasn’t hot and they were early in the possession (I think without any passes). Other than those I think most were good looks, or needed at the end of the game.
Turning point in the game was the flagarant 1 called on Payne, turned into a 4 point play
And he wound up fouling out.
Did we need 11 of them?
And overall LSU had 32 missed shots and 15 offensive rebounds. Not gonna win many games that way.
As for Payne, his offense is coming along, but his defense is just not good right now. Slow on rotations, too many fouls, and he only had 2 defensive rebounds tonight. 3 or four more defensive ones and we win.
And to be fair, KB only had 3 defensive rebounds, so our two bigs had a total of five all game. If you want one stat that would have won us the game, that’s likely it.
I hate the fouls in transition when Smart gets bumped by Mann and they call a foul. If that's a foul, then so is every drive by AN when he gets contact from a big. It's the same play, same contact.
And then the flop on the 3 point shot. Kid did it the next time he shot it too. Shocked a veteran crew didn't tag him for an offensive foul the 2nd time. It's not his shooting motion.
