I tend to like those "eloghomes"...
Some of those things are Beautiful!! Big windows and wraparound porches, with lots of either rock or coral, and logs, with a couple of fireplaces!

I think I'd like to me a bit elevated on a mountain, with a stream close by, and overlooking a lake, probably in either:
    Colorado
    Hawai'i
    The Asheville area

I guess final retirement home would probably be an urn on someone's fireplace mantel

Any patch of ground with birds to feed and flowers to tend would work for me.

actually my 7 surgeries on my right leg(5 knee and 3 ankle) and my 3 surgeries on my right shoulder cannot handle temps under 45 for an extended period of time- so yes being warm is underrated

I've spent most of my life in FL; bulk of my career will likely be in northern MN. Someplace in between would be nice. :emoji_thinking:
I think it would be nice to live in CO or northern CA; maybe have a cabin in MN or Montana for summers.

For the last 18 years it has been in this neighborhood off Williston Road, Google Maps ~ but next year we are planning a move to western Colorado to be closer to elder son and family. I will miss the warmer winters of Florida but we will likely rent a place in Texas for the coldest part of every winter to escape the worst of the cold.

On the outside the new house must have an enclosed stone patio, a small heated swimming pool, and a pond for water lilies and goldfish. Inside will have a wall for Trucker's enormous TV, a kitchen to meet his exacting standards, and a designated craft room for me.

Here's video of me and a couple of my grandsons feeding fish in the 2 small ponds I dug - yes, I dug and built - by myself some years back before the neurological problems stole my ease of mobility. They each are approximately the size of a 35 gallon aquarium and were homes for goldfish in one and a blue beta in the other.

We will most likely wind up on the Gulf Coast. To us access to great medical care is very important. In my opinion great medical care is hard to find on the Gulf Coast.

Thankfully, we have a relationship with UAB and will buy this service when we move to the coast. UAB hospital is fantastic.

As long as I get into an area where Humana covers me, the only problem I would have would be finding a new neurologist/ pain management Specialist

Am I reading the information on that website correctly? $225 for an individual yearly plan and $325 for a family plan? No joke - the plan is "fantastic."

Due to a medical emergency last year I had to be transported by Shands ambulance from my doctor's office on NW 39th Ave to the main hospital on Archer. I joked with the crew and said the next time this happened I wanted them to send the helicopter as I had never ridden in one before. They said no way did I want to have to ride in a helicopter ambulance. It didn't lift off the pad to fly to any emergency for less than $15,000! Mileage charges are extra. Only the most dire are transported by air.

Money no object? Naples, FL and a nice home on the gulf with mango, coconut palm and avocado trees. Not likely to happen.

Our plan? we are going to move to the southern part of the Eastern Shore of Virginia and live a much slower life. The bay is wide there and so the sunsets are fabulous. And stuff is located about 30 minutes away via the bay-bridge tunnel.

    Already have it
A small mountain ridge tucked back in the woods with a stream and two small ponds. 79 acres of leave me alone.
60 minutes to a biggish city (about the size of Lexington)
25 five to a city the size of Gaineaville.

    Small garden
Plenty of deer and turkey. No neighbors. Just me the wife and our dogs. Plus a grandkid or three or four in the summers.

We also have a place on the upper Suwannee that we spend 4 months of the year at.
