So proud to be a Floridian leading the nation in Covid infections. We have the best governor leading our freedoms to sickness and death. A friend of mine is a school teacher. She can't wait to get back to Deathsantis petri dish of education. How do these idiots get elected....

By the "base." Today the base, while its elected officials work diligently on voter suppression, is the path to (Trumpian/Republican) power in America.

Where’s your friend work? I ask this because my wife voted with the rest of the teachers at her school. It was unanimous for no masks.

All of this worry before the real flu season starts.

When they institute the 12 state playoff we'll probably draw Alabama, then we will be OK.

That is overall for the entirety of the pandemic. In current cases per million, Florida is third behind Arkansas and Louisiana.

I wouldn't like the governor making such decisions. I think it largely should be based on public health.

Having said that, I could be swayed otherwise, but everyone 12 and over has had a chance to get the vax, and those less than 12 is pretty remote risk. From what I have seen the risk of serious covid infection for the vaccinated is no more and probably less than annual flu. As for those that choose not to vaccinate...good luck.

there are also 24 states with more deaths per million, and how and where do you define when the new pandemic started to get your numbers?did it start 2 weeks ago, a month, show us the data on each state for that time period if it is real so your statement can be backed up. remember, not total daily cases, but cases per million population

I was just doing it quickly on one day. But if you extend it out to a week, the CDC data has Florida as #2 in the last week in cases per 100K people.

Florida is heaven in the summer. Not shocked everyone is flocking here, bringing their germs along with their thousands of tourist dollars. I'd be a bit embarrassed to admit I was surprised.

It’s tough for me to determine what body I would really want to make this decision. It reminds me of a quote from Lord Acton:

The danger is not that a particular class is unfit to govern. Every class is unfit to govern.

We have the same freedom to refuse the vaccine, get Covid and die out here in LA. I’ve been vaccinated and I’m pissed to have to wear masks again to protect the same people who aren’t afraid enough of Covid to get vaccinated. Would you prefer mask mandates in Florida?

Infections of the vaccinated are going up with Delta, but the death rate isn’t, so there’s no need for masks if you aren’t in a high-risk group.

Has DeSantis talked down vaccinations? Not sure I follow the “Deathsantis” thing.

Do your kids go to my wife’s school? I would say not. Parents there don’t whine like you do all the time.

Since it's so upsetting to you maybe you need to move to a blue state to feel better.
