I do a 36 hour fast once a week. Start Sunday after Dinner, don't eat again until Tuesday morning. It sucks, but Monday's suck anyway.

I've been quiet on this thread the last couple of days. I've been under the weather (read stomach bug). That should help with the weight loss.

Well I am back amongst the living. I had something called Norovirus, a stomach bug. The last 10 days or so have been epically bad. On the bright side I lost 21 pounds in the ordeal. I will be easing my way back into walking and eating something besides saltines. Hope everyone is well.

I just found your thread. Only thing better than doing what you are doing would be to quit smoking. I am a retired PE teacher. Exercised every school day for 39 yrs. Since retirement I have gained about 10lbs and obviously move less. It is a challenge. Im gonna check each day and cheer lead some. The walking is outstanding for you at this juncture. Diet is probably the most important part, though. I am struggling to lose my weight. I hope, despite this viral setback, you keep it up. I am 65 and it is amazing how fewer calories you need and how different I feel now as opposed to 12 yrs ago. Hang in there...........

Well that is one way to lose weight but not the preferred method. Keep hydrating and keep up the walking and you should sustain the weight loss. I see you’ve gotten up to 6 miles, once you are back to that distance, try adding in a slow jog for 30 to 45 seconds every five minutes. That should help your body become accustomed to jogging which is where I assume you would want to get to eventually.

Agree with this. Couchto5k is a program I've seen friends have huge success with.

After almost three weeks off, I got back on the horse today with a leisurely walk with my son.
    1.6 mi.
Almost one hour. It was nice. I plan to get back after it tomorrow.

Got after it this morning. Just going to have some broth this morning and eat wisely at lunch and dinner.

I don’t want to talk about yesterday’s meals

@defensewinschampionships Mind if I join in with you? I give a bit of my weight gain story. I got clean and sober seven years ago. About a year later, I replaced those addictions with food. I gained over 200 pounds eating fast food and large amounts of it at various times of day and night, the same pattern I used drugs and booze. Dec 29, I fell out at home and had to have emergency surgery to fix an ignored hernia, and they removed a few feet of my small intestine that had been damaged.
The surgeon said if I didn't lose a whole lot of weight, the odds of it happening again were high. So I completely changed my diet cooking at home, no restaurants, no fast food, soda, etc. So far, since my surgery, I've dropped 100 pounds and am looking to drop another 100. I went from not being able to walk to the corner to easily doing a couple of miles. I feel a ton better already. I just need to stay focused and avoid emotional/comfort eating while staying home. Thanks

Good job man! Amazing what effect it has when we cook for ourselves at home. My food off the grill is way better than the local restaurants (and better for me), I'm down 60 lbs, my blood work rocks, and my food budget is way down as well.
