How many games is that now?

For some reason we either don't come out with the same intensity as the other team or get too easily rattled...or both.

We turned the ball over almost 40% of our possessions (11 out of 30) in the 1st half.

Were we just not prepared? How do we stop this? By being more prepared, coaches calling earlier timeouts...playing more composed. Maybe easier said than done on the road, but this is getting awfully old

Some of its coaching, some of its leadership from the guys in the locker room. I need my PG to set the tone on the road at some point. He's too good to have another first half that lazy.

I think we should really explore pressing in games where we come out flat. Seems to pick the energy of the team up, especially Scottie and Noah.

We came out flat and went to a zone and that was a disaster. And I hope the light stays on for Tre. Because Ques just can't run the point consistently.

Pressing is a great idea. We seem to play a lot more loose, a lot better in general, when we play a more open / broken play style game. 2-2-1 press and fall back to a 1-3-1 half court trap D perhaps.

I was wanting a press to get the energy up, when it was clear we were being out worked, out hustled and out played. But that is a bridge to far for this staff. Baby steps though, he did change defenses 6 minutes in or so. Of course it worked, and it quickly went away from it, but it’s something.
Today was far more on the players than the staff, they read their own clippings after LSU it felt like.

Yes this team has a hard time with success, in that we get too overconfident and don't bring it when playing lesser teams. Can't just show up in this league and expect to win, especially on the road

Ques looks totally out of control at times. Good kid but he scares me with the ball.

You can tell it's killing Scottie that we're not pressing and playing full out on D. He must be really frustrated at times with the strategy

He definitely makes some freshman mistakes. looks great at times, gets himself in tough spots at times. given his height he has such a small margin for error when he goes to the hoop

He seems to space his legs too far apart and it messes with his balance. That's just my take but for a smaller person, he has a habit of losing his footing quite a bit.

Interesting take. Now that you mention it I see it too. Either way he does play a little out of control at times. Good thing we have Appleby next year, though I wonder if AN doesn't return

I'm looking forward to seeing what Appleby will bring to the point.

I think we saw a glimpse watching what Tre did today. A guy who can beat his guy off the bounce and finish. He was a cheat code today against UT's defense and we really will need that next year from Appleby.

For those asking to press more...is that with Nembhard on the floor or on the bench? Dude doesn't play defense, is too slow, and too finesse imo

A team’s preparedness is a direct reflection on its coach. The team hasn’t looked very prepared in too many games this season. Many here like to grab their pompoms after the team comes out unprepared by saying “yeehaw at least we kept our heads up and fought back.”

And when we lose many like to heap scorn. Funny how that works, isn't it?

There's no excuse to have the team come like today...17 points in the 1st half? It's March for crying out loud.

Mike is just too nice of a guy....he needs some fire in him.

I'm sure not making any excuses for our first half play but with that said our second half was much improved. I don't know if it's because he is not firey enough but different coaches have different temperaments.

We'll never be a high quality team like that. You have to play high level both halves to have a chance for something big.

I doubt MW would argue that point.

He will make any excuse in the world for someone who is a multimillionaire and literally fails to meet expectations more times than not. Must be a family member. Or he’s just nice to everybody. Free hugs for all!!
