I presume this is you who is triggered, yes? I'm not being confrontational, just straight up, which is one of the things I enjoy about your posts. There's a part of me that feels your disappointment in race-bombing and yes . . . it happens on this board. I just don't see this as a case where I'd jump out and claim "yeah, but he might not have been racist." The known facts suggest that this man is a craptastic POS who acted on extreme dumbassery resulting in the murder of an innocent woman.

This one hits a little too close to home. Not a mass shooting, but another gun related death. Dr. Linda Berger is a friend/colleague recently retired from St. Olaf University. Linda chaired our state organization for multiple terms before I held the chair. She was a great mentor for me. Recently, Linda's son was shot and stabbed to death in a suburb of Minneapolis. Linda and her husband found him dead in his garage. The alleged perp was a friend and committed suicide after reportedly killing Linda's son. So sorry for the Berger family.

Friend heard money, relationship woes from man tied to Chanhassen killing who took his own life

Penn. man, 76, allegedly kills wife and daughter while cleaning gun, says he's 'best of the best' at shooting (msn.com)

Cool story about a guy who shot his wife for being mad that he wasn't eating her dinner ... then shot his own daughter because she was pissed that he shot her mom ...

His explanation of what happened is outstanding ...

Hanks told police he got into an argument with his wife while cleaning his Smith & Wesson 2.0 9 mm handgun, FOX 43 reported, and told her "if you keep up this thing is going to go off on you."

He then allegedly pointed his gun at her and told her that "if she did not shut up and leave him alone that he was going to 'plug' her,'" according to court documents reviewed by ABC 6 Philadelphia.

He claims that he pointed his gun at his wife's chest and it "went off," the document shows.

When his wife fell down, Hanks said, his daughter "went into a rage" and "came at him" - so he pointed the gun at her chest and it "went off" again, he said, per documents reviewed by the outlet.

Awful. Stats are higher of a gun used in an accidentally shooting, murder of family member, suicide, stolen, etc than actually using it successfully defending against a home invader

School shooting averted today in a small community west of Madison, WI. The perp was a kid with a rifle and never made it in the school. Was "neutralized" by LEOs. I've mentioned it in the past, but every WI school I've visited is locked and has a video caller for entrance. Don't know if this was a deterrent, but the locked doors might at least slow entry and raise campus awareness, should a shooter make a forced entry.

^ Good job, LEOs in Wisc.

I'd be interested to know the economic impact of having to "defend" or ensure enough LEO assets are on standby for potential threats to schools. I (think I) know that law enforcement is/should be ready to respond to almost any threat, but certainly this places some demand on resources.

Terrible local tragedy. Routine warrant service of a career petty criminal without prior violent charges and he pulls out a high powered rifle and kills officers in an ambush/shootout.

He managed to p/o the judge. Guy seemed generally fearful in life.

“I think you really could possibly do the same thing again,” Washington County Judge Adam Michelini told Kevin Monahan.

“The first thing you do on the witness stand when you come up here and testify is you made a joke to the jury about them finally being able to see your face,” Michelini told the defendant.

Any remorse you have isn’t for the harm you’ve caused. The only regret you have is that you’re finally facing the consequences for your actions. You murdered Kaylin Gillis. You shot at a car full of people and you didn’t care what would happen and you repeatedly lied about it. You deserve to spend the maximum time in prison allowable under our law,”

Monahan testified that he thought about past criminal activity in the area and fired a warning shot into the air. The vehicles began to leave slowly, he testified, and he lost his balance on some nails on his deck when the second fatal shot was fired, Spectrum News 1 reported“

This event is interesting to me because IMO it clearly highlights why concealed carry and open carry are more harmful than good.

First off, I have an incomplete knowledge of carry laws in CA, but whether it was legal or not the presence of a firearm clearly increased the tension and risk, probably contributing to a shooting where there otherwise would not have been one.

Possible unintended consequences; greater cost to tax payers should there be a lawsuit. Probable contribution to decreasing desire to become police officers, when society clearly needs them. Besides the obvious result of someone being shot.

Just another example of how clear it is that American gun proliferation is counterproductive.

The female officer searched him, remarking on their obvious height difference, as the male officer returned to his police car to run Metka's information.

Seconds later, a shout rang out: "He's got a gun!"

"Let her go! Let her go!" the male officer yelled as he ran toward his partner, who was being held in a headlock.

During the struggle at Yucaipa Boulevard and 14th Street, the male officer shot Metka, striking him near the jaw....

At the property this week in OK. Left book elsewhere so was leafing thru Shooting Illustrated magazine. I didn't know it was an nra magazine, man what a fantasy rag for the ammo sexual community. Several articles about mythical gun grabs and even gun review articles that should have been informative were laced with all the perceived threats imaginable. Home invasions and animal attacks are apparently rampant, who knew.
Prepper type crap about radiation detectors and junk like that.

Listen, stuff does happen, I know. But most of the readers are probably on 10 types of medications dues to crappy lifestyle choices. If the magazine wants to talk about survival, should probably discuss exercise and maybe stepping away from the buffet line.

The NRA is a terrorist organization.

This country needs as many informed voices advocating responsible gun ownership as this NRA stuff. I couldn't count how many untrained, not necessarily responsible gun owners I know. It makes the rest look bad and everyone unsafe.

I specifically don't own firearms because I don't want to make the effort and own the responsibility to be expert in their ownership and usage. I'll do mountain bikes, road bikes, guitars, and dogs. Things that won't potentially pose a risk to other people.

The interesting part was this magazine was from 2022 and one of the gun grab articles was by Wayne LaPierre. How stupid do you have to be to give money to the NRA with him as part of the organization? Not to mention how they sucked up to Russian assets (although some on here are good with that).

Can't imagine how this Amazon supervisor feels after seeing this video. Point blank shot at his back and the gun jammed the first time and he flat out missed the second. Wild video
