Not sure what point you are making. Lot of companies settle court cases rather than prolong things.

And lots of Plaintiffs resolve cases instead of going to trial.

Please lift your head out of Anderson Cooper's lap and think for yourself!!

Lawsuits are settled like this with incredible frequency for many, many reasons.

Maybe the nature of the trial/trials would cost you more than $10M to defend against. If so, it can be a purely economic decision. With our screwed up tort system any low-life attorney can bring nefarious lawsuits against any company with no repercussions. Even if he or she loses, their name and mug are plastered all over the media, particularly if what goods and services that the defendant company provides are deemed to be politically incorrect by the media. Then they get name recognition and somehow get credibility from the media.

And if you happen to be one of these companies, just sparing yourself from the barrage of negative coverage that said media will give you is probably worth 5X this settlement amount.

    Lowest life list:

    1: Child Molestors
    2: Drug pushers
    3: Personal Injury Attorneys
4: U.S Television, Radio, and print media
    5: Liberal politicians

P.S. 3-5 are up for debate as the differences between them are within the sampling margin of error.

What does 21st Century have to do with Fox settling its cases?

I imagine the legal team that represents Fox could run up $10 million in billing in a months time rather easily. Cheaper to settle and walk than to fight it and win/possibly lose.

I'm surprised that certain posters on this board haven't filed lawsuits against Fox News for intentional infliction of emotional distress. Or maybe they have? And named as a co-defendant their gym for showing Fox on the TV in front of the Stairmaster?

I plan to do just that. I'm going to sue FoxNews for taking Andrea Tantaros off the air. In fact it ought to be grounds for a class action lawsuit.

I heard a piece on this on NPR this morning. The lawsuits involved racial and gender bias. Fox is saying they just want to clean all this up before big chunks of 21st Century Fox entertainment division - but not FNC - is sold to Disney. Not sure why the news division needs to clear the decks in order for the entertainment division to be sold but that's what. they said.
Fox News Pays $10 Million To Settle Racial, Gender Bias Suits

These cases focused primarily not on sexual harassment but race, predominantly backroom employees rather than on-air figures. The first suit was filed more than a year ago by two staffers in the payroll department who said a boss routinely belittled and demeaned them on the basis of race and that they experienced a hostile work environment. Others from the payroll department filed similar suits.

Some of the suits named former Fox News comptroller Judith Slater, whom the network fired, and the network's chief attorney, Dianne Brandi, who has been on what the network has characterized as a voluntary leave for months.

I don't know the substance of these suits, but Fox didn't spend that much settling them if there wasn't some merit to the suits. At the end of the day, though, a big business settling suits like those isn't really news.

Megyn Kelly has done enough damage to her career after leaving Fox to probably wish she had stayed

She's a multimillionaire with three kids. Here's an idea. Why not stay home and raise them?
