Tim Walton, Pat Dooley and Hugh Hathcock (lives in Destin) were guests at Club meeting tonight. Walton is fired up about this years team especially with hitting potential. Did say they had 2 great pitchers coming in but are they will be young but hopefully will adapt over the year. Said past year was his most difficult since being at UF. Very engaging speaker and loves UF. He, Dooley and Hathcock spoke highly of Napier and Golden. Great guys with a plan. Dooley and Hathcock think 8-9 wins for football. Just got to beat who we shld beat. We all know those 4 teams ( Vandy, Mizzou, SC and Ky) ….

I'll bet he didn't mention what should have been the elephant in the room. Why there is only two pitchers on this team.

If he hadn't gotten blindsided by Vawter he still would only have three pitchers and that is not enough.

I am sure he deserves all of our support, but this year was an eye opener. I am happy to be completely wrong, but something felt off. He APPEARED to play favorites with both players and coaches. He has consistently brought in pitchers who were not SEC caliber and did not have a plan for the pitching losses.

I am not sure that this has been a happy team either.

But, I am only a fan who loves the way softball is played and my concerns mean nothing. They just bounce around my head. I know the limitations of my opinions.

I continue to root for CTW and hope for the best.

Because Lexie Delbrey transferred out and Alana Vawter, Kelly Maxwell and Kayla Beaver had verbal commitments and/or serious discussions to join the Gators and none did.

State of Florida JUCO Softball is quite competitive along with a few other states—are there any possibilities or under the radar softball pitchers there?

and everything we play JUCO in the fall, we seem to crush them. I think we would be batter served looking at the best D2 pitchers or overlooked very good HS pitchers. My opinion only, not a fact or inside info

He’s got a lot of big talkers in the stands, but apparently no big spenders.

No big spenders? How do you think he got the 200k?

I can tell you without a doubt, there are more big talkers here than in the stands. The majority of the people in the stands have no idea that there even is an NIL for softball.

Hoping to change that this fall.

    Just in case:

200k is nothing. If the people in the stand’s don’t know there is NIL for softball, they’re dropping the ball, which we already know. I’ve heard plenty of these same big talkers flapping their gums in the stands too. That stadium is like a hs girls locker room, except filled with geriatric old men.

200k is nothing. That doesn’t buy or barely buys one top player anymore, much less a whole wcws team. It’s a drop in the bucket.

I’m not the one blaming the coaching staff for all of the recruiting shortcomings. Those who are now have their chance to make a difference. It’s not all on the coach anymore. These are checks he doesn’t get to write. You want recruiting to be better, do something about it, and you better find a whole lot more than 200k if you want to play with the big boys…err big girls.

This is why my interest in college sports is about gone. I'm 72 and retired on a fixed income. Any extra money I have is going to my children and grandchildren.

200k dispersed among an entire roster isn't going to move the needle if you want to bring in elite transfers. I get that many don't like the new normal (me included) but that's the reality.
