That's the spirit. Screw the largest retailer in the country, one of the largest employers, and all their customers.

“Between Walmart and China they should, as is said ‘EAT THE TARIFFS,’ and not charge valued customers ANYTHING. I’ll be watching, and so will your customers!”

1- I’m 69 and have never heard, as Trump says, the saying of “EAT THE TARIFFS.” I wasn’t around during McKinley’s term and other presidents understood the effect of tariffs.

2 - “I’ll be watching.” Who gives a shit? You brought this on, not the companies you must expect to take the loss. Bullying, your favorite “negotiation” tactic, probably not going to work here

3 - The customers, who you now want to act like you’re their protector, know who brought this misguided pain on.

Yes I’m sure the shareholders of Walmart will “eat the tariffs”. Where do they come up with this stuff

better yet how do certain “very intelligent people” keep falling for this.

stock market will keep going up, rich will get richer and poor will pay increased prices. If you don’t think this is already happening because of tariffs, you are in absolute denial

I expect that Walmart will continue to kill it because at the end of the day their price moves for comparable product will likely end up somewhat mirroring what their peers do. And they’ll generally remain the low cost option.

“Everyday low prices” doesn’t mean the same thing as “Yesterday’s low prices”.

Why are things so hard for Trump to understand?

Why is Trump telling Walmart to "Eat the Tariffs"? I thought China has to pay the tariffs, and the US was going to make so much income off this 'free cash' from China that we could cancel income tax and just live off the Chinese teat? I'm confused. Anyone from the right-wing brain trust want to explain this to me?

So, in 4 months, we went from the right have having a melt down over 3% inflation to "most people don't pay attention to the price of things they buy"... LOL. Keep telling yourselves that. We'll see how it goes in the midterms.

It’s hilarious that he claimed for months China would eat them, now he’s begging US companies to do it. Mr pro business.
And his supporters still can’t see or accept what a complete shyster he is.

But the other lesson here is to just not announce you’re doing it, raise them. Once you do you become a target of the unhinged orange one. Price conscious people will figure it out anyway, and the effects will be the same. My grocery store raised several things 20 percent last week and didn’t announce squat.

37 million Americans buy something from Walmart every day. Who cares about them!

Of course, as one of the biggest retailers in the country, Walmart is a bellweather company. If they raise prices, so will their top competitors like Target and Amazon. Maybe you'll care then?

255 million people shop at Walmart every week. I get that you probably don't care about other people, though, it must be part of Christianity 2.0.

    That’s how surveys work.
They’re also responsible for almost 25 percent of all grocery sales in the US.
Walmart, Kroger, Costco make top three grocery retailers list

but if you want a hard number, they did 462 billion in sales in the US in 2024. Or roughly 2.4 percent of total US GDP. To minimize their importance is as bizarre as it is wrong.
It’s why Trump raced to social media to scream. It’s his voters that are going to get crushed.

This thread kind of reminds me of some of the videos I've seen recently of farmers and small business owners that voted for Trump and are now complaining how tariffs are hurting their business

If China is paying a tariffs why is Trump telling Walmart to eat them? I thought I was up to date on MAGA logic but apparently I'm not
