Gators Keep it Rolling, Take Down No. 12 Texas A&M on the Road
    Sam Stolte UF
No. 31 women's tennis knocks off Aggies 4-2 in College Station, collects second-straight top 25 win.
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The No. 31 University of Florida women's tennis team (9-8, 6-4) picked up its second straight top 25 victory on the road with a 4-2 win over No. 12 Texas A&M (18-5, 6-4) Sunday afternoon at the Mitchell Tennis Center.

Taking on a Texas A&M doubles unit that featured three ranked pairings, the Gators came out focused and claimed victories on courts two and three to secure the doubles point. Dimitrova/Jarlskog cruised to a 6-1 win over No. 55 McBryde/Townsend, notching its first victory over a ranked foe this dual match season.

After Kessler/Emma dropped a 6-3 decision to No. 63 Makarova/Goldsmith, the attention shifted to court three where Zein and Berlin took on No. 67 McQuaid/Quiterio. Berlin and Zein surged out to a 4-2 lead but saw the Texas A&M tandem counter and grab a 6-5 advantage. With its backs up against the wall, Florida's freshman combo rallied back and won in a tiebreak 7-6 (6-3) to provide UF with the early momentum. For Berlin and Zein, it was the duo's first victory of the season as well as its first over a ranked opponent.

    Impressive win.
    On the road. Ranked team.
Won the doubles point vs ranked doubles teams too!
Seem to be finding a groove and gaining momentum.

    Close the regular season strong!

Berlin's emergence has been a huge lift for the team. She is playing with confidence and gives us 5 players in singles that are capable of winning. Still waiting on Dimitrova to turn things around. She is 3-5 in SEC matches.

I did not see what happened to Kessler during the Texas A&M match. Did anyone else see what happened to her?

Women's tennis back in Gainesville to kickoff four-match home stand
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Off the heels of back-to-back top 25 wins on the road, the No. 23 University of Florida women's tennis team returns to the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex to host No. 43 Alabama and No. 49 Auburn this weekend as it kicks off a four-match home stand to conclude the dual match season.

The Gators and Crimson Tide square off at 3 p.m. ET on Friday and Florida wraps up its weekend with a 1 p.m. tilt with the Tigers on Sunday.

Note: Friday's match was initially scheduled for 5 p.m. but has been moved up to 3 p.m. due to the prospects of inclement weather in the Gainesville area. As a result of the adjusted match time, parking restrictions will be lifted for the law school parking lot starting at 2 p.m. In the event that heavy rain occurs, the match will be moved indoors.

I said 2-2 on the road trip and they got it done, 3-1 at home on this stand and they are pretty well locked into the tournament. 2-2 and they may need to win one in the sec tournament, not sure whether being exactly .500 would be looked upon too well.

Good news is that they moved up to 23 in the rankings this week, so they continue to climb.

    Play is on the uptick.

Interesting that next weekend (O&B weekend) both the men and women play a match at home. Typically they alternate weekends for home matches.

It must have been sudden, cause she was competitive in the match score wise until it stopped. Havent seen anything so I was guessing an ankle or pulled muscle....but thats pure speculation

Assume the twins and Berdusco are redshirting....might have been tempting to try them in doubles given some of the issues there

am I not wrong, don't 64 teams make the tennis tournament also?hard to imagine a team ranked in the 20s would not make it in, am I missing something on this?

They would certainly get in staying in the 20s, but they were around 50 couple of weeks ago and an underdog in several matches still ahead. Bear in mind also a lot of inferior teams get automatic bids

Annnnd....they lost. At home. To a ream ranked in the 40’s.

Kessler didn’t play, but shouldn’t have mattered.
Post season back to being in serious doubt now.
