Thayer Hall didn’t play, but it wouldn’t have mattered, they didn’t even get past 20 points in a set. Couldn’t even make the first pass almost half the time, played terribly.

Time for some soul searching before NCAAs.

That may have been as bad as I have ever seen a UF volleyball team play. Not remotely competitive, and no fight to speak of. Mary has her hands full with this squad, been erratic all year but without Hall they look lost

That was the worst match I’ve seen from a Mary team in a while. No effort.

    Where is Hall?

Fact is Florida is marginal at best without Thayer. jUst because you're 6'8 doesnt mean you can play at a high ncaa level... Setting was horrible , all you heard Karch talk about was the difference in setters and why Kentucy could swing away and Florida could only tip.

It isn't the setting. It's the poor quality of service reception. I won't call names, but there is one player who stays on the court 100% of the time who has been absolutely awful all year at service receiving. Opponents have targeted her all year. Kinda' hard to set the ball when you can't get to it.

The second weak area, and it's been a theme for multiple seasons, is service errors. Just an inexcusable number of them.

Yes at times passing was bad but the big tell of your hands on your team is when u are getting 2.8-3.0 passing and your trapping your hitters . The first thing karch picks out was the placement. The difference between Florida and Kentucky was the setter. If the best player to ever play the game says your setting is bad , then guess what? Your setting is bad.
When Florida was out of system they seemed lost. It's like the wings were waiting for someone to step on and push the ball to the pin. This team has a lot of work to do so many holes!

they also miss Hall's skilled play, early and mid season you could see how much she improved the team

True, but it takes more than one player. Fortunately she's only a freshman.

She's not playing this afternoon vs Arkansas. Dressed in sweats. Live from Exactech.

Whole team stepped up in sets 2,3,& 4 in playing without Thayer. I think that will be good for the team in the long run. Paige Hammons was huge today along with Sokoloski as well as Cerame and Fischer in the back row (serve receive). Thayer appeared to be wearing a black back support under her sweats. I think she will be back later this year based on comments made by Hammons in TV interview. Just me reading between the lines.

    Thoughts From Coach Wise
    • "We got a lot of good play by different players tonight. At this point in the season, we need to have the ability to score points at every position, in every rotation and tonight we did that."
    Players' Corner
Sophomore Outside Hitter Paige Hammons on the match
    • "Mary got us together in the second set and told us to play for one another. We wanted to play especially hard for Allie Monserez and Taelor Kellum with this being their senior season."
Redshirt Senior Allie Monserez on the match
    • "We have been working a lot on getting into a rhythm and staying in that rhythm. In the first set, we were a little rocky from start to finish, but once we started the second set we got into the rhythm and got more hitters involved. Mia Sokolowski did a great job coming in off the bench and our DSs – Riley Fischer and Paula Cerame – made some great plays tonight to help us get the win."
