As much as the recruiting services -- and even college coaching staff evaluation teams -- have improved, high school player evaluation is still inexact. That list above showing Etienne, Hubbard, and Taylor just falling in with a host of other very good 4 star players, as opposed to in the elite group where they now belong based upon performance in college, shows us there are still elite kids who get overlooked for whatever reason.

Yes, I think we would dominate with a 20-foot running back. ;)

Pierce was the one that broke many GA state records. He has broken some big runs and appears to have good vision. Can he be the feature back and consistently produce, can he pick up blitz, can he be a productive as a pass catcher?

Broke Herschel Walker's all-time rushing yardage record too. Can't wait to see him getting the ball at least 15 times a game in 2020 with an experienced OL.

This is critical IMO. Perine was really, really good at both.

That's a pretty ridiculous standard. There are usually around 3 RBs nationally that fit that bill a year.

Well, it isn’t even about overlooking them - they are still growing and developing; they may have started football late; they may play at a school that has so much talented that they don’t see the field or so little talent that no one sees them; they may not want to work, or study, or follow the rules. The ‘misses’ that I have more trouble understanding are the phenomenal athletes who are out in the open but obviously underrated. Joe Haden was in this category.

The talent infusion on the field over the next few years is going to be incredible. Shorter, Cox, (please note the comma between those two), and Lingard as 5 star transfers.

Dexter, Wingo, as 5 star recruits. Couple that with all of the 4 star recruits over the past two recruiting cycles...

Now get Williams and Clayton (and possibly Princely as we are slightly thin on the Zuniga/Carter position) and this is an amazing class that fulfills every need.

    Thanks for making my point.

Pierce was a known bull coming out of high school and was recruited as such.

Were going after players committed to Colorado and Georgia Tech.

Maybe we’ll get Gibbs or Clayton but I’m not sold on them yet.

Remember when everyone was excited about Jalen White coming here? I bet some of you would talk him up too.

Not sure how you would hand the ball off to him?

I mean if were trying to win National Championships, it should be the goal.

Gibbs was ranked an .88 about a month ago. Now he’s a .95? ok?? (I go by 247) That’s a mighty leap. I’m not convinced he would have committed to GT had he been more widely recruited early on, so what changed? He became a near 5 star in a month?

Bama, OSU, Florida among others have been after him this year. His senior film is very very impressive.

No its just another example of putting too much faith in a bunch of "experts' and an industry that is built on very little

How many of these players do you think these experts have actually seen in person?

The jumps you see in ratings is usually driven by the fact that the kid wasn't reviewed at all by the so called "experts"

It's nothing to get annoyed about one way or another. We just have a different take on the situation, and the apparent truth is that even the so-called experts can't make up their minds on how good these guys really are. Incidentally, I saw where a poster elsewhere is saying Gibbs is still solid to GT and that Clayton has a UV to CU next weekend - so it may all be moot anyway. If Lingard gets a waiver, neither one of these guys was likely to see much PT next year in any event. Just maybe, we can finally land a HS RB we'll all be excited about in 2021.
