I wonder if Twitter did enough. They’ve given him an exception to their rules due to his position. I wonder if they should just ban him?

The good news is that this will stick with republicans, and particularly trump, for forever.
It will be an object lesson in what years of placating a narcissist will do, what not graciously conceding will do, what following and not leading will do, what not standing up for the truth in favor of conspiracy will do, what allowing baseless attacks on our needed institutions will do, and what general cowardice from power looks like.

merry Christmas Republican leadership, you own this in every history book written for the next several hundred years.

I seem to remember watching burning and looting for a few nights and people complaining they weren’t taking action.. but every channel has their slant.
Clearly today they were not prepared for what happened. Either incompetent or advised no big deal.

They have locked him out for 12 hours. Just reported on CNN. Also tweets have been deleted.

7_5, this isn't about just one day. It's been a month of court challenges, recounts, undermining our elections, calls to state officials to overturn votes of the electors (find me some votes! Have you looked in the couch cushion?) Not to mention one state suing two other states...Today, seeing so-called "patriots," rushing Congress to disrupt the certification of the results of the election was just the final, shameful straw.

I believe the word "coup," applies to this situation. What do you call Trump's attempt to overturn Biden's election?

Just saw that. He was promoting violence with false information. Twitter let it go on for too long. 12 hours isn't enough. He should be permanently banned after the 20th.

Trump is the duly elected president of the United States, and Twitter is a private digital platform. IMO, it shouldn’t be their job to regulate the speech of an elected official, so I fully support the exception they gave him.

I’m also ok with them banning him for violating their policies.

True story...I was blocked from Twitter for almost 8 months because I called Trump a F...ing Traitor and told one of his supporters to just stop with the f...ing b.s. 8 months! Trump gets 12 hours for encouraging a mob to invade the Capitol. My crime...being honest. Trumps crime is encouraging his supporters to take over a Federal building that is an iconic part of America. Guess I should choose my battles better if I want to be on Twitter...and I don't. They can have that trash site.

Their terms should be their terms, and they shouldn’t have to make “exceptions”. Least of all for a President of the United States. It says something that a POTUS can’t even follow the rules on an inane social media platform.

In reality, the guy is a mentally ill troll. That is what we’ve been dealing with. That is who his supporters hitched their wagons to.

AND Trump will be sitting in the peanut gallery for the next 4 years siphoning money from the republican party, demanding fealty from party members, and undermining those who don't support him at every chance. If Dems are smart, and I'm not sure they are, they will watch as Trump burns the party to the ground.

As to the Biden speech, stroke of genius for the President elect to step in and provide some leadership when the sitting President will not. Must have driven trump mad and sure seemed to put panties in a wad on here!
