Al Micheals is pretty good. IIRC he called the Reds games before going national. He was a sane voice and Joe Nuxhall was the local fan favorite. The old left hander rounding third and heading for home. My wife and her family were Reds fans and partial season ticket holders with some other folks for years so I had to live with that. They played at Riverfront back then. A perfect stadium for a rodeo but sucked for both baseball and football. It was round. Did they think that cricket would be a huge draw?
So my son asked me who is the Vin Scully of basketball announcing? I really don't follow NBA anymore but started thinking about the college game. Certainly not Dick Vitale. I am stuggling to come up with the name of a guy that played guard. I think in the Big Twelve that was a really good announcer. He could explain what happened in simple English to folks that never were schooled in the game. It was always a pleasure to hear him on TV. With Dickie V I used the mute button.
It took me a while, but it was Jon Sunvold. Good player and a good announcer. Added in edit: Sundvold, not Sunvold.
