Vanderbilt ready to roll into the future

After SEC-record 59 wins, national champions poised for success in ’2

    Associated Press
OMAHA, Neb. — Vanderbilt topped off its dominant run through the Southeastern Conference with the national championship, and there may be no slowing down the Commodores.
Tim Corbin’s 2020 club, on paper, might even be better.

“Tim has built a program that is to the point it just recycles guys,” ESPN college baseball analyst Kyle Peterson said Thursday. “He’s proven it for 10 years now. They’re not light on talent.”

A lot of the talent on the team that won an SEC-record 59 games was young.

Freshman Kumar Rocker was the nation’s most dominant pitcher the second half of the season, threw a no-hitter in super regionals and was voted Most Outstanding Player in the College World Series. He will be around two more years and looks destined to be the No. 1 pick of the 2021 Major League Baseball draft.

    Chillax, fainting goats.

Repeating is difficult. Vandy will challenge next year but it’s anyone’s race.

Yep, its baseball, one never knows. Basically same this same Vandy team(minus that Kumar guy) was a bubble, traveling 2 seed 2 years ago.

Both of y’all are spot on—

If we just gave the CWS Championship to who was supposed to win it every year well then—there would be a whole lot of champions out there that would have to give their crown back......

Sully has a much better record of getting to Omaha but when Corbin does get there he stays a while - 3 finals in 4 trips.

Just getting to Omaha is NEVER the goal—

But that said, everyone needs to keep in sharp focus just how damn tough it is to succeed out there at all, much less on the top of the pile—

I feel confident every single year that Sully’s intent is to have the greatest success—that’s what makes Florida Gator Baseball the program that it is—I’m extremely proud to have had our son play here in this great program and to continue to be an avid fan—

We can re-list all the things that we all know that are the keys to that success—but it boils down to peaking at the right time during your season, good health, and good luck—

None of that comes without hard work and dedication...

    Go Gators!

Vanderbilt baseball: Timeline of national title, from Kumar Rocker pledge to College World Series win
Adam Sparks, Nashville Tennessean Published 5:00 a.m. CT July 2, 2019
Vanderbilt baseball won a national championship with record-breaking performances, memorable victories and subtle decisions that guided the story of the 2019 season.

Here are some of the notable, and not-so-obvious, events that led to the national title:

    May 13, 2018

Coach Tim Corbin has dinner with recruit Kumar Rocker and his parents, Tracy and Lu, at Calhoun’s restaurant in Knoxville after Vanderbilt’s game at Tennessee. Tracy is a Vols football assistant coach, but Lu and Corbin did most of the talking. She wanted full assurance that her son’s academics would remain a high priority while he learned to pitch at an elite level. Kumar, a projected first-round Major League Baseball Draft pick, said little until the end of the dinner when he promised Corbin he would be “one of the best teammates you’ll ever have” in the Vanderbilt program. Three weeks later, Rocker turned down multi-million-dollar offers in the draft to pitch for the Commodores.
