The Billy Joel one had the same vibe and mix of interviews with old footage. It went in order as well from early days to recent MSG concerts. It was very good.
Thanks for the recommendation…finished it last night and it was indeed very enjoyable. I kept trying to picture Billy Joel punching and fighting neighborhood kids. He said he got picked on and learned to box. Billy said he got in a lot of fights. Also stuck with me is how often you find super talented guys with daddy issues. Tom Petty had these problems and it provides the fuel to write amazing music apparently.
His marriage to Christie Brinkley also struck me as interesting. I think if he would have controlled his drinking and listened to her about his manager stealing from him, they would still be together. I think she really cared about him.
Joel’s dad wanted nothing to do him. And his mother was bipolar…recall his song I don’t know why I go to extremes… He drank all the time as most talented musicians do. It’s a miracle he kept it together as well as he did.
Its part of the Alien/s franchise ... Lab ship crashes onto Earth, which is run by 5 powerful corporations all doing versions of AI/Synthetic beings
Chief of War on HBO is pretty good so far. It tells the history of the Hawaiian Kingdoms around the time that the English show up.
I would agree and I think that goes for both of his first two marriages. Both of his wives clearly really loved him a lot but could not stand to watch him continue to be self-destructive. I also think the fact that Joel had to be out on the road making money because of bad record deals or bad management clearly caused a lot of the issues.
I started that one and it's pretty good. We just got back from Hawaii and went to some of the historical sites on Hawaii, Maui and Oahu. Very interesting history.
I know, I remember him getting screwed over by his manager but didn't realize it was his Brother in law from his first marriage that did it.
Is there a way to hide spoilers on posts in GC? I have a question re: the Alien Earth series that doesn't seem to make sense from an Alien-saga timeline perspective.
