Yeah I feel my chances at eating real meat is much better at 5 Guys than at McD’s. I need to find out if Sandwich Inn in Gville uses real meat. That was my favorite during my stint at UF
Forgot to mention that the 5 Guys burger wasn't particularly good! They're better than McDonalds but still small and lacking flavor (and fries) for a $15 burger. I would pay a bit more and go to Texas Roadhouse or Outback, at least it tastes good and full size. Heck even Gators Dockside makes a decent $15 Burger and it includes fries.
The five guys here is a half pound burger, but I suppose everybody can mess up a burger. It's only the people who work there and they ingredients they're working with. I've got a pretty big appetite and have one of those burgers and what they call a small fry. I'm satisfied. I eat there once or twice a year. We usually sit down and order a meal for lunch.
I frequent McDonalds when on the road for vacation or my part time job because I like their iced coffee, WiFi is almost always easily accessible and good, bathrooms are usually clean, I like their fries. As for the fest of their menu I’m not a fan.
Interesting comments by Kirby Smart which was mentioned on Shane Matthews Podcast yesterday (Brent Baird was one of the guests). Kirby claiming that some of the 5 star / high 4 star types are getting paid up to $20,000.00 a MONTH, once they commit. to STAY committed. Kirby voiced that if a kid is getting paid that kind of dough, that if they "renege" on the commit and go elsewhere on National Signing day, that kid should be forced to "re-pay" the school paying the dough. I imagine Kirby is lamenting the fact UGA has gotten burned by this and is bringing it to the medias attention. I can't say I blame him one bit. If a kid and his handlers do that, I think most circles would call that THEFT. Shane and Brent advised they know for a fact this is going on EVERYWHERE, obviously involving different amounts. Shane said he got wind of it over 2 - 3 years ago, but the $$$ amounts seem to be going up. Remember when we were aghast at Schools paying up to $5,000.00 for a kid to visit? The money involved in recruiting is just unreal. Don't think for a second UF is not doing this sort of thing as well. I suspect the reason UF has not signed a bunch of 5 stars is related quite closely to this issue. The other talking point was kids committing and de-committing and committing again. Think of the 5 star linebacker UF just had de-commit, someone posted the kid has done it 5 or 6 times already this cycle. Well it sounds like the kid is just collecting big monthly checks and then moving on to the next highest bidder. Talk about a scam..............
Its no surprise to me as i have always suspected there was much more going on than most wanted to believe . Some people have to have video evidence to believe. When i saw Fred Taylor admit Georgia gave him 50k thirty year ago and he still played for St Spurrier, i knew all my suspicions were legit. Fred was far from the top Qb in the nation money and that was just inducement money, not a college career earnings check. Some just like to keep Santa and the Easter bunny alive as long as possible.
I don’t believe exact numbers without anything to back them up. If they have real numbers, then they should have a source. I’ve never argued that there’s not a bunch of money floating around.
As I posted in another thread, nothing wrong with this, as long as you don't plan on scheduling teams like FAMU or Bethune-Cookman. They would beat your team like a drum most of the time. But don't worry, we can begin a rivalry with Embry-Riddle. Yeah!!! There really isn't any good solutions, other than voting with your wallet, individually. And if enough do, then you will see real change. Otherwise, it is what it is.
I dont need exact numbers to know DJ is getting millions. Is it the exact 12 million offered to radhada or even more? Dont know and dont really care but i bet its not 2 million.
I don’t care or need to know exact numbers. I also don’t need to read articles where people put numbers up with nothing to support them. Nor do I need access to a database full of made up numbers like on3 has.
I partially agree with you, if players need an extra year after their eligibility expires to graduate the schools should accommodate, and I think they often do. But needing another 4 years? IMO that's overboard. While the demand is difficult to juggle, lots of student athletes do it. And I'd argue football is easier to do than some other sports. Football benefits from having their season confined to one semester (save the few teams that make deep playoff runs) and their games are almost all on the weekends so missed classes are minimized. Plus they can go to class year-round. That makes it easy to take a half load of classes in the fall and make it up in the spring and summer. Most players have the option of redshirting if they want to spread things out over 5 years too. The opportunity is there to get the education you want while playing. I'd argue basketball players have it way harder: their season spans both semesters and half of their games are in the middle of the week. I have no idea how they get any meaningful education while playing. But football, way more manageable IMO. I'm not saying its easy, but players have been doing it for decades.
Well we don’t know. And I’m not inclined to believe anything I hear either. So I go on not knowing, and not giving it much thought because there’s nothing I can do about it anyway - except complain that I think it sucks
