They are in good hands. Coach Hev will have those boys pancaking the crap out of their opponents like Bruce Lee was against Lew Alcindor and Chuck. And we all know Chuck can kick anybody.

Not sure this belonged here but I agree, the OL is the least of my worries. My worry is hopefully this team isn't "over confident" or become stat selfish and remain focused and level headed. A lot of these guys are in their NFL money year and want to have that production to drive up their stock heading into the offseason

I think the main worry is key injuries/suspensions with overconfidence/complacency a close second. Hevesey will have the OL competent and I'm confident Mullen and Grantham will call good games. Of course even SOS had an occasional brain fart so we're likely to slip up somewhere even without any of the above worries coming to fruition.

Most definitely agree but I didn't point those out cause they went without saying. I'll tell you what though, the first AND second team OL will be up to sniff by the time AU rolls around, who along with Miami, will probably be the most talented DL we face all season. Miami will be a great test to open the season and I really feel it'll be smooth sailing for the OL until the AU game

Feeling better and better about our OL as news from camp seeps out:

    - Banks is back and practicing, was pencilled in as a starter this year before his medical absence/leave/whatever
    - Tanner Rowell was just awarded a Scholly so he's contributing. I saw a depth chart that had him 2nd string, he played in every game last year including a couple at DT. His dad was bulldog at DT under Spurrier.
    - Ethan White is down to 337# and has taken reps with the 1s, nimble kid who played B-ball in HS.

We have 15 scholarship OL right now - 2 rSRs, 4 rJRs, 1 rSO, and 8 FR (5 tFR, 3 rFR). All our SO/JR/SR took a redshirt year. There's not a lot of starts here, but there is a lot of experience and a lot of older kids.

Actually, tanners dad switched to OL and was a huge contributor for the offense. Brought a d line mean streak to the O.

If White gets ready to play solid snaps, things get much less tenuous. Need at least two + Banks to shore up the depth.

    My math must be bad. When I add 2 + 4 + 1 + 7, I get 14, not 15. Go figure.

New math! I missed one of the FR, updated to show we have 8 FR (5 tFR, 3 rFR) OL total.

I'm not sure either. I just saw a thread talking about the OLs.

good to hear about Ethan White. For his health and development I imagine they want him at 310-320(?). If we get full at OL I could see him taking snaps at DT and wrecking it.

If the OL is actually a strength by mid season look out.

I'm not worried about the OL from the standpoint that we have great coaching, and the young kids appears to be deeply committed and competitive - and you can't really teach that.

But at the end of the day, we're relying on several young, unproven, and inexperienced players...and that's not the ideal recipe for the SEC.

Here is hoping that several of the freshmen are ready like the Pouncey's were! Then we're definitely set.

EW would make a great DT. His HS film at DT is solid.

But I thought we didn't have any 5* star guys on our team?

Seems like this kid is already solid in the 2-deep and might be part of the first 8.

Agree. But he played some DT in HS, and was pretty solid.

Great to have him on the squad on the OL, but............if it becomes a need, he can play DL

We don't really need true freshmen to play this year. We will just have some true freshman play up to four games to still be redshirted and only play more if they have developed significantly and show they are better than the experienced guys. We already have 8 (the number Hevesy wants each year) that look ready to play who are not true freshmen: Forsythe, Heggie, Buchanan, Bleich, Delance, Moore, Banks, and McDowell. We aren't in some crisis of having to play true freshman (likely Miami will be forced to) unless there are a lot of injuries.
