So I debated doing this for this round, but so many folks have asked for it for the fun of it....here goes. (Title changes will of course be made accordingly.)

    Note @BenTrillGriffin's thread

....and also Finebaum thinks that UF may already be locked onto Napier.

Also note that most of UF's recruiting class, staff and current players have started following him on Twitter.

But can he go toe-to-toe with Saban, Kirby, Riley, Sweeney, Day, etc.? There’s a mountain between sounding like somebody and performing at the same level.

Let's get this thread to 136 pages before Sunday. That's about as long as this thing is going to last.

Definitely. I think I have reservations with every candidate, not named Bob Stoops (and only because he is the only one who has truly made it. Note: Not saying Im all in on Stoops because of his age/motivation, etc., just saying he is a known commodity).

But many mocked Kirby for being Richt 2.0 and all he did was emulate Saban to the T. Pains me to say this, but I think we would all take that mangy dog in a second as our head coach. Maybe the third try is the charm with getting former Bama assistants.

Napier is the guy who will put as back at the top. He isn't just the top candidate, he's THE candidate. We aren't getting Dabo or Riley, so Napier is our best option. I really think he's the next big thing. Make it happen, Stricklin!

If we could get Riley I'd be fine with him too... But no one else on that list excites me. Dabo lost his shine... screw the dawgs and everyone that has ever graduated from that school. Saban is old and not coming, and Day is not moving down south.

Who does that leave? Another rising star with a killer resume. He's like a young Saban, and I think he deserves an interview at the very least.

On a side note, if Stricklin did indeed identify Napier as his top choice while Mullen was still coaching and make a move this fast after the firing, kudos to him for a well-executed coaching search. Whatever his failings in other areas as an AD, if we can get a quality coach in place in weeks rather than months, that would be a HUGE improvement over recent efforts here and some of our peer institutions.

I think Aranda will go to LSU, UF will get Napier. And I am a huge fan of Aranda so I think both schools might end up doing well.

The standard for this go around is "smart hire". Might not be the flashiest, but has to be someone who looks like they can run all facets of the program (which Strick alluded to in PC).

Napier fits 'smart hire' to a T.

It depends on how soon Stricklin can pop the pimple.

And I would say that if he does hire Napier, our cup runneth over.

The unknown is that no matter how perfect a candidate seems, as soon as they get here the pressure mounts and the question is can they handle it? Do they find out that the admin was only paying lip service to giving them resources to recruit and have extra analysts and NIL deal assistance.
Having said that, I like what I read about Napier.
