Even in a "down" year when the Gators only won 1 national title (Men's Tennis) and had disappointing finishes in volleyball, basketball, baseball and softball, the strength & depth of UF's overall athletic department earned them their 12th straight Top 5 finish in the Director's Cup. They finished 2nd to Arkansas for the SEC title for best all-around program, with the men finishing 1st and the women 2nd.

The way they calculate the Director's Cup favors schools like Stanford and North Carolina because they have so many more teams than Florida and the rest of the SEC. North Carolina participates in 26 team sports, Stanford 36, Florida has 19. The Director's Cup calculation include 19 sports, 4 of which must be baseball, women's volleyball and men's and women's basketball. So all of Florida's teams are included in the calculations, while schools like North Carolina, Stanford and others only use the 19 sports in which they did the best. Huge advantage for those schools. Texas only has 18 sports teams, so it's a tremendous achievement they they won the thing this year. In regards to Arkansas, they had an incredible year for them, with 1 national title and 9 SEC championships.
Here's a link to the standings, both nationally and the SEC:

What % of people who follow college Athletics really give a rats azz about the Directors Trophy or whatever. So Stanford gets it every year and hordes th e m in a basement under the gym.
I could care less about that or the SEC AllSports trophy. Never seen a car with a bumper sticker with Florida ALLSports Champ . And hope I don’t.

To each his own, but I think the overall consistently high achievements of the UF Athletic Department have been pretty amazing and something to be proud of - especially considering that Florida only competes in 19 team sports. But that's just me. Texas won it this year, by the way.

If the baseball team had won just 1 lousy game in its hosted regional against either USA or USF UF finishes in 3rd place in the Director's Cup. That is how close the 3-5 spots were between Michigan, UNC and UF.
