Up from #15. Passed Penn St, ND, F$U, Tennessee and Clemson Ranking college football's top 75 recruiting classes: Alabama transfers boost Ohio State's class During the 2024 cycle, Florida's class rose as high as No. 2, before falling a little. However, the Gators are closing back in the right direction as they crack. Despite tough competition they were able to hold onto and sign DL L.J. McCray who moved into five-star range and also added in-state four-star DT D'antre Robinson as well ESPN 300 CB Jameer Grimsley, who jumped from Alabama to the Gators class after the coaching change.
Can't read the article, but thanks for bringing it up. I saw one other ranking service say that if Bama had let Grimsley out of his LOI he would count and out us in the top 10 on their site. He got a free pass portal when Saban retired... which means they can still claim him in their recruiting class, and we only count him as a transfer. I don't like that one bit. This has kind of counting has to change. Edited...
One of the sites had his grading lowered during the transfer too. Completely ridiculous. I guess two weeks of those freshmen intro courses are pretty detrimental to the football players in Tuscaloosa.
I believe someone posted a tweet by ON3 that they were going to change their process to finalize rankings after NSD to include moves like Grimsly as apart of the class. Should honestly be the standard in the new landscape. Heck maybe even wait for the teaining camp roster.
Yeah, that explains their MO for the entire country to see... screw the Gator prospects in broad daylight with no shame or compunction.
Did they say if they’re doing it for this class or waiting until next year? Seems like something a bunch of number crunching nerds can go ahead and implement after NSD this year.
We've also quietly crept up to #12 on 247 lately, and to #16 in their transfer portal ratings. It wasn't but a few weeks ago that we were at #64 in the transfer portal ratings on 247. A lot of people were screaming that the portal sky was falling, even though it had really just opened up.
What I read was that it will change by the second signing date, but I could be mistaken about whether it's this year's or next year's second signing period.
They are yesterday's news. Literally. BTW, I STILL don't get the fascination of the "score" we receive for recruiting. We get bodies. That IS what counts.
I like that ours went up, but piddling around with the individual player rankings AFTER eveyone played their last HS game and AFTER they have signed is tantamount to rigging the game to get the result you want. Oh, who the heck am I kidding...the result they really want is eyeballs, clicks, and $$ and churning the rankings will get them that
Once they’ve enrolled, it’s not as simple as just letting them out of their LOI. They have to go through the portal. The LOI is their letter of intent to enroll. He completed his obligation to enroll. Once he’s done that, there’s no more intent to release him from.
The best part of this is the Neggies that cried about our class, but praised fsWHO's..... EVERY kid in their class dropped I read. So mid major Mike will portal over all of them too. LMAO
Gotta hand it to coach, despite tremendous fan pressure, and anyone who reads this board must acknowledge that several threads were / are critical of coach and signing days result. But since then, the staff has rallied with the transfer portal. Ratings suggest a slow but steady rise on the recruiting and transfer portal ratings since the disappointment of signing day. I know several of you were posting concerns as to why UF was not signing some high profile players, but it appears the staff addressd perceived concerns at positions of need and obviously "cherry picked" selections over time. Basicly suggesting the "talent acquisition business" has improved among the chaos of coaching changes. Hopefully that makes a difference on the field in 24.
An amazing feat, considering that UF did not finish anywhere near #10 in the actual rankings last year. Shows how good the brand and Billy's recruiting were, because let's be honest... we didn't do anything to deserve such a high ranked class if we're talking about on-field performance. I like it.
It’s funny too because they start off the justification with his rise is more about his phenomenal senior season than his all star week practices
