If your boat turned over, and you could only save an embryo or your 2 year old, who would you save?

A trolley problem with a born child and "unborn children." The trolley is heading for a two year old child. A bystander can direct it instead to hitting two embryos for IVF. Who refuses to re-direct the trolley?

You wouldn't sacrifice yourself to prevent even one abortion and neither would I, so you don't really believe that. You are just saying someone else should sacrifice themselves, against their will.

The women being affected by the Texas abortion law are not aborting due to "convenience." The majority, if not all, wish to have the baby. But unfortunately, instead of having a healthy pregnancy, they are experiencing complications and the pregnancy becomes ectopic.

And the reason why the women aren't getting the needed treatment in time is the Texas law. As long as the fetus has a heartbeat, the doctors in Texas can't do anything. Even if the fetus has 0% chance of viability and the pregnancy is 100% will be become ectopic, until there no longer is a fetal heartbeat or the pregnancy is actually ectopic, Texas doctors won't do anything but wait.

In other states that do not have draconian abortion laws, when there is no chance at viability and the pregnancy is going to cause issues, doctors can and do intervene before it gets to the point where the mother's life is currently in danger. As a result, the woman don't die, and don't risk other complications like becoming infertile and never having the ability to have kids in the future.

Even if you are against abortion, the Texas law goes too far. It saves nobody, and causes the death and infertility/future babies from being born.

The Christian answer is "we all should die", apparently...

When Jesus died on the cross, it wasnt for your sins, it was to show you what to do in a Trolley Problem situation

In 2021, just under half (44.8%) of reported abortions occurred within the first six weeks of pregnancy. Another 36.0% happened between seven and nine weeks, and 12.7% within 10 and 13 weeks. Put another way, 93.5% of reported abortions were performed before two and a half months of pregnancy.

Farther into pregnancy, abortions are less common. Of the remaining 6.5% of reported abortions, 2.7% occurred between 14 and 15 weeks, 1.5% at 16 to 17 weeks, 1.5% at 18 to 20 weeks, and 0.9% at 21 weeks or more.

The brain develops between 20 and 24 weeks. Before that it can't feel nor can it become aware. Abnormalities are not found until at least 20 weeks. A friend of mine who voted for trump was anticipating the birth of her son't baby. At 20 weeks they found that he had a hernia in his abdomen that was growing. It could not be operated on at that young stage. The outcome was going to be that since it was pushing up his developing lungs, they would never develop to the point where he would not be able to take a breath. The doctors explained that the fetus had a non developed brain, so they could terminate the pregnancy without concern about it feeling pain. They gave her meds to induce labor and sent her home. She came back so they could "deliver" the fetus.

I told her she was lucky that she was in the state of Virginia and not say Georgia or Texas. She agreed with me and she is deeply christian. Until it happens to you, apparently you can't wrap your head around it. It's just easier to clutch your pearls and judge others.

Why is there such a fuss about abortion. Treat it like any surgical procedure and go to the state that performs them. Like any other special treatment people need. Go where it is available.
