Here's the latest update on the new ball park...

Gators’ Baseball Ballpark to Break Ground in February - Florida Gators

    --------
The University Athletic Association board approved the new Gators' baseball ballpark budget Wednesday afternoon, paving the way for the project to break ground in February, pending University of Florida Trustee Board approval.

The $65 million baseball park, located on the southwest part of the University of Florida campus adjacent to Dizney Stadium, has a planned completion date of June 2020. The Gators' first season in the new ballpark will be in 2021.

Ground breaking in February? Coincide with 1st pitch of the new season, maybe?
Or, play Saturday’s afternoon game; after the game we’re all invited to the Groves for a ground breaking ceremony.

Interesting to see some small changes in the rendering such as the berm seating has been extended around both OF corners and both bullpens are now open. Before it looked like they were covered. It also looks like LF will have a small area for anyone who wants to walk up and stand outside the stadium can see some action. My main question will be which Gator will be the first hit one deep enough to hit a passing car? If the wind is blowing out hmm.

With the 360 concourse, can get in some walking /laps while not missing any action. Wonder if you could market that to fitness buffs? Laps per inning? Total laps per game? Have contests?

Ok so a 25% higher price tag can’t just be rising construction costs. Some more bells and whistles were added.

    Anyone care to chime in?

The 360-degree concourse is definitely different from before where it looked more like a boardwalk and was closer to the action. Now it looks a bit pulled back with more amenities look food, probably going to see things like picnic tables and such out there close to the fence.

I am sure that my seat in the new venue will not be as awesome as my seat at the Mac.

I also noticed in the renderings the covered seating is not as much and the structures in the corners have been changed to far less than what seemed before. The covered seating before was completely past the infield clay but now only looks to extend even with 1st and 3rd base. My guess they cutback a section on each side to extend the berms for grass seating. I'm not sure what the idea is for the changes with the building structures down the sidelines but they are not what was there before.

I’ve always hated the word “cutback”—

But that may just be me—

I think of it as “phased development”. Building to meet budget. More berm now= future expansion opportunity in the future as the fan base grows and the program flourishes!

The only way to improve your seats at the Mac would be to remove the annoying screen in front of you and have reclining seats.

I only have my seat because my wife is a great friend of a LONG time Gator season ticket holder. There were some issues with the UF AA trying to take her seats away awhile ago. I don't want to get into details here. This stuff is even above Sully's level. It was at Jeremy Foley's level.

Needless to say, I won't have the best seat in the house in the new park.

So are you saying they had to build a brand new stadium just to get you out of these seats? LOL Must of been an awfully big bru-ha-ha!
