Every time Miami changes coaches, recruits are energized and talk of “the state of Miami” begins anew. Happened with Randy, Golden, Richt, and Manny. On-field results will determine if it continues. With Clemson and ND on the schedule, Da Yu may not have the year Manny was hoping for.
Who was the last 5* from Gainesville? Clinton Portis wasn't a 5* was he?
Taylor and Marshall are the only two that it would suck to strike out on. The other three are good players but lot's of similar players with the same or better potential out there.
i don't think it matters one bit going forward in recruiting
I just read tha we have never signed a 5 * out of dade.
We already have our version of Collins and Smith (Thomas and Montgomery) ... and a gigantic bonus with Watson.
Collier is most similar to McMillon ... but we also have Wilcoxson and Mitchell.
However, we have no one like Marshall (Young is the only CB we have in the class) or Taylor.
They will always run SoFL. Best we'll get is a guy here or there.
They have the rep/culture to own SoFL, but the infrastructure to be a perennial 4 loss team.
They can't keep sucking and doing it forever?
DaU is a generation-spanning cult down there. Us against them. Perpetually.
They've sucked for basically 20 years and it holds up. It's just the culture and it's not going to change.
Haven't they only been using the star system since 2002 and the scout site (before it swapped owners)? That's 18 years.
How many 5-stars from that county have there been in that time?
I'd obviously like the talent down there, but cornering the market hasn't really helped Miami down there. They have yet to win one of the easiest of the big-time conferences.
They must still be pissed about The Flop
Memphis McElwain got his work cut out for him
Saddle up!!!! 2022 target
Samuel Mbake, Brookwood, Wide Receiver
Here is what a guy on the insider board who lives in Miami said. Former players from scUM have been working out with the P-five kids and selling them on they are key to bringing back the Canes to their glory days. That combined with the parents wanting the kids to stay close to home because of covid is having an impact. Miami is doing what I would do if given that opportunity. That said, a couple or three of those guys are still not completely sold on the canes. They could all sign with scUM but I would not bet on that being the end result here. UF can sign guys of the same caliber with the exception of Taylor IMO.
Believe it's Tommy Streeter they're working out with
A guy who won nothing in college and played in a whopping 2 nfl games. Wtf does he know about glory days?
Watch your mouth! Streeter brought both the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Saskatchewan Roughriders back to their glory days. This sort of thing is within his wheel house
Cope thinking about sitting out.
