He is still showing as the #1 DT and #3 overall in the 247 composite, though.
IMO this was the planned trajectory from the start. Mullen is a quirky and cocky dude, but certainly not unaware of his shortcomings.
Success on the field leading to a steady improvement in recruiting was really the only play for him. It was always going to be the long game with this hire, and hopefully we are now seeing the results starting to manifest on the recruiting end.
As someone mentioned earlier, that covert show cause penalty probably impacted building the recruiting momentum a bit more than we all realized at the time.
Borders is built to contribute year 1
Agree. Gators fans know it. That's why I don't subscribe to it. Newberg is the biggest SOW homer.
Nikai Martinez, Apopka, Cornerback
Can't imagine UF will have a spot for him, but he is a really solid player. Doesn't have measurables that jump off the page, just knows how to play the game. Was a solid starter at CB as a freshman and already had elite cover skills, never been afraid to stick his nose in and hit people. Also an elite special teams guy, blocks kicks, returns kicks, etc. And last 2 years has done double duty as a WR as well. Somebody is going to good a solid contributor.
Chosen Ones. We will have to miss out on some really good ones.
Hope Shaw comes to UNC just out of spite. No reason that Nolen should've dropped.
Every cycle we think we have too many of various positions where we will sign super elite players and not have enough room for others.
Though that never happens so who knows who we end up with this year but we likely won’t fill up with the elite dudes we are hoping for.
don’t want to lose their grip on the top recruits
damn this sux
But then he immediately traveled down to Gville for another visit
Kirby probably sold him by telling him he was going to use him on offense for a trick 4th and 11 play he has been drawing up.
You’re truly doing the lords work
Random but i always pondered the idea of why don’t we all just chip in a few dollars and buy a subscription at Rivals and/247 and have even more of the inside scoop
Heresy! In all seriousness, does anyone else doubt how much more “inside” pundits can really be in the age of social media?
