obviously everything is lip service until pen hits paper but I mentioned this in February I think, that the recruiting this cycle will be better because Mullen and the staff have been waaay more invested into. My personal opinion is that Mullen realized that “we’ll make it work with whoever we sign” only gets you so far and up against the “glass ceiling” and his way has maxed out and doing things different, becoming more personally invested into recruiting is the way he HAS to go. This cycle I’ve seen him in more of these unofficial/official visit photos than I have in years past and hearing more kids speaking on him and how they speak to him a lot more than you would in past cycles. Hopefully it bares results in us signing some elite kids this cycle. And it’s obvious that Coach Crime Dogg and Coach Jules have been a shot in the arm as well. Hell through in Coach Mcghee since he’s gotten us more in play for midwest kids

I think a lot of fans are also overlooking the fact that up until recently, Mullen was silently serving a 2 year show cause penalty for the west coast debacle. I can't imagine him being as hands on, taking risks with that looming over the program.

    2018 - Transition class
    2019 - Show Cause
    2020 - Show Cause
    2021 - Covid No-contact class

I don't expect the #1 class or anything out of this staff, but I would think this is the year to actually see some improvement in getting more top talent. 5-7 would be a good finish.

Nick is a recruiting machine and is really working it. However, I have never seen a parent get involved in recruiting. The Evers family is awesome. Momma wants her son to be surrounded by studs.

People underestimate how important the good attitude / good leader kids (like Nick) are. It isn’t just the recruiting boost, or that they generally end up being good football players, they tend to inspire the same attitude and work ethic in others—the others start recruiting too.

This is why pro coaches will pay a veteran salary for some declining players—they make the rest of the team better.

I think of somebody when you mention the attitude. Watch the highlights of Jake Pope. He may not be the highest rated kid, but you want him on your team. He loves to play the game and puts his body on the line tackling.

agreed but guess what? Nooooooow Rivals drops Nolen from #2 to #6 overall and now he’s the #2 rated DT behind Travis Shaw who’s forecasted to Clemson? Us Gator fans on Twitter knew he was gonna get dropped the moment he was linked to UF

The Evers family seem to be class acts across the board. Really happy to see high character people talking up the program.

You may recall Wingo’s mom saying the same thing when he transferred in. Ethan White’s mom was very vocal about the family culture - and was especially complimentary of Megan Mullen.

Maybe the family culture of recruiting isn’t as effective as the mercenary method of recruiting, but IMHO fits UF better.

@bobby is on to something tho. The newer coaches on the staff seem to
Be more energetic recruiters than the guys they replaced. Feels like Dan’s addressing some shortcomings. We’ll know more when the class is signed and we see results on the field, but it feels to me like recruiting is improving, albeit at a glacial pace.

Maybe I’m biased with Orange and Blue glasses…but it really does feel like our recruiting is turning a major corner…

This kid just had an official visit here and is already back not even a week later even after visiting another school? That’s gotta be big for us…
