Booster drama regarding halleygator whom apparently is no longer donating to the University

 

What happened?

 

He said Jorden Seaton bidding starting at 2.5 mil. Just bitching with other twitter dumbasses and got puffy.

 

But why did it escalate to him not being a booster? Shouldn’t he just get off of X? Smh

Pretty silly arguing with anonymous people and getting upset.

 

Time to get up and work.

 

Hal has been around forever and usually struck me as very genial and easy going. Until he wasn't. He's disappeared or stormed off of several platforms in the past, including here.

Anyone who is closer to this please correct me if I'm wrong, but I saw it unfold on On3 yesterday.

1. Halley tweeted out that bidding for Seaton is starting at $2.5M and that tweet immediately got traction and responses pretty widely.
2. Not positive - but it sounded like the staff may have reached out to him to ask him not to do that for obvious reasons. Based on what came after, one might guess that the outreach was rather strong
3. He came to a thread already bristling from that (or something else) and got some pretty light, but consistent, ribbing from On3 subscribers
4. He kind of blew up immediately which in turn emboldened the ribbing (because he was acting like a child) and within a couple pages had announced he had pulled all funding and was no longer a booster
5. Then he kept repeating that, seemingly expecting people to start profusely apologizing and tell him how much we need him, but people just started laughing at it and/or saying "thanks for everything, I guess we're done here then."
6. We were not done here. Today, he has continued to tweet that he's no longer giving money. Not sure the motive but it comes off as he took his ball and went home, realized no one followed him, so he came back out to tell everyone what he's done again

Some of that is my take on the situation but I do know something without question. Unless something happened behind the scenes, it's the most extreme reaction to maybe the most benign ribbing/heckling I've seen in my life.

Like I have to wonder if either it's trolling or something else is going on. I can't believe what is visible is the sole thing that led to what happened.

Edit: If I had to guess, the reaction to his tweet was very strong from other boosters and the staff and he took deep offense to that. Meaning he thinks that since he gives money then he should be able to do whatever he wants without being questioned.

 

Well, if the AD thinks we need him I’m sure it will be rectified otherwise let’s act like a grown up and stop bragging about what we *donate*
