That is my guesstimate as well. I'd rather have a prickly guy that will win than a guy everybody loves who loses.
He’s having fun with a poorly kept secret He’s going to troll us all season and then sign an extension after a solid CFP run.
Yeah I think people need to slow down on turning on Sark as a playcaller based on what's happening just this year. Arch may improve (and is probably the perfect player to eventually go full Josh Allen) but he has been flat bad this year. Also their o line has dramatically underperformed. What Sark should get pressure about is the fact that he has been given all the resources to create a super team and then went and lost to us and only beat Kentucky by 3. Granted it's pretty clear the parity in college football is at a level never seen before, but they should absolutely be better.
Yeah, I'm sure he was happy the other week when Ole Miss hosted Washington State, and they still could NOT sell-out a 64,000 seat stadium... while being undefeated at the time. He's a huge fan of SOS too. Let's face it, even in down years, the Gators were and have been out recruiting Ole Miss from the ranks of the high school players. The transfer portal is a different animal, and that has more to do with NIL and coaching than anything else. Gainesville is a destination coaching school and he knows it. We sell-out games, 16 games in a row and counting (against Long Island University and USF type teams)... something Ole Miss will never do. Yes, Kiffin wants to be the Gators next head football coach. It just needs to happen.
Seems like a classic case of thinking you will be good because we're all stars (highly paid) . As much as kids say its business they really need a coachwho can get them all performing at a high level and for the same goals.
Oh I definitely agree with that but just because you have the biggest budget doesn’t mean just blindly sign all the top players. It’s still on him to build a team but he gets to do that with few limitations when there’s a guy they want.
Manning is very bad so far and no coach can be good with a bad qb it all comes down to money. Ol miss cant pay the classes we pay and pay the oortal. It seems they have spent less on hs players and went heavier than us in the portal. The top teams keep the hs recruiting up and still have plenty left for the portal. Too much portal seems not to be a very stable way to run a team. I think you need both to be a stable program and ol miss has found a good mix but still lacks a bit of cash to do it first class. It still needs to stay kinda blue collar to keep and edge and not have a bunch of money players that forget that being a dog is the most important thing. Football is a primal sport and glamour doesnt win games.
Yep, and as you can tell I was NOT advocating for more NIL type transfers, I was actually touting getting kids from high school to sign with the Gators.
Yet we do need to fill our holes in our roster much better from the portal than we have so far. We needed more than we got. Im down with long term building but bringing in bigtime players is key also. National championships are being won by transfer quarterbacks. I'm not saying you have to get a transfer quarterback, but if it's a middle linebacker or an edge rusher or a left tackle, it's all the same. You've got to have them if you don't have them on the roster
Of course this is a guess, but I'm thinking Lane would want to keep quite a few of the kids currently on the roster, and of course with the H.S. talent potential available in UFs traditional recruiting grounds, depending on the portal a bit less, when he comes to Gainesville.
as long as you have 50 kids that have been in the program for 2 to 3 years, you can build your roster that way. But when those kids don't pan out, you need the bag to bring that player in for the one that failed. That's what the top teams do
