I feel the same about a number of commercials which include the realistic sound of a doorbell. On more than one occasion I have gone to my front door only to discover no one was there.

I like the Duracell commercial where a man, about to buy some batteries at a store isn't sure if he should buy the long lasting ones or not. He envisions his young daughter on a car trip running out of battery juice and she and he go nuts in his imagination of a trip with no batteries for her toy/game.... She's painting her face and screaming out loud... going nuts in the car and so is he.... LMFAO! So he buys the long lasting batteries.

I am going to take you back in time....decades. To fall of 1962.

Sunday night tv, Bonanza. When the new Chevys were to be shown, they would hold the commercial till the show was over. Then there was about a 5 min comm'l of all the new Chevy models.

There was serious anticipation to see the new model Corvette. I just about jumped up when they showed that split window 1963 Vette in detail, even with the stingray bumps across the top.

As a kid, and even today, that commercial stuck in my head all this time. So fun.

I bet you most likely recall when they use to paper over the windows of the car showroom at the local dealership to unveil the new models all at once too.

Cigarette ads are my guilty pleasure. They were evil, rotten, and manipulative, but somehow caught the zeitgeist of the times. The menthol brands always seemed to have the catchiest jingles and music.

I never realized till now that the hot chick jumping out of the TV is his wife 20 years ago. Too bad he couldn't imagine his younger self with her instead of some other guy beating his time.

This one is classic probably because it's premise is so absurd.

Those tobacco execs would've shown men lighting cigarettes for their pregnant wives and ordering them to "make my kid a Marlboro baby" if they thought it would make them a buck.

Cigarettes were said to relax people and be slimming. Neither of those premises is incorrect, even with today's science. I heard a scary stat, China is smoking at the level we did in the 1960's. Think of that population in 20-30 years, oh the lung cancer.

    Hijack alert!

When the cigarette companies were found accountable and sentenced to a "severe" fine they really did not flinch. The main reason was because they knew they had a HUGE market in Asia. I seems the folks who decided to stop smoking in the US are a drop in the bucket to the folks who want to "Be Like Mike" in Asia.

    God Bless America!

It bugs the hell out of me that 10 years after his death Jimmy Dean still comes on my TV every now and then trying to sell me sausage. Now don't get me wrong I love me some Jimmy Dean sausage but Jimmy, don't you think it is about time you RIP and let somebody else push your product.

I know, every time I saw that commercial I had to stop and ask myself (or someone else) "didn't he die back in the 2000's?"

I listen to classic radio shows on Sirius XM and they have old cigarette commercials on there with doctors saying Camel unfiltered will soothe your throat. HAHAHAHAH!!!

Maybe what he is selling is Soylent Green. He would be as good a salesman as there is.
