Fake electors in Wisconsin first to admit Biden won election and face penalty

The settlement, first reported by the Washington Post, marks the first time any of the fake electors from 2020 have formally acknowledged wrongdoing in a legal case and have faced any kind of penalty. The case was filed by two Biden electors and a Wisconsin voter last year. They sought up to $2.4m in damages, in addition to permanently barring the fake electors from ever being able to serve as presidential electors again.

The fake electors agreed to never serve in an election in which Donald Trump is on the ballot. They also agreed to fully cooperate in any justice department investigation into efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

96 pages is only 5 more than the 91 felony charges currently facing Trump. Maybe he'll catch up soon.

I get what you are saying. Clearly, Trump strikes a nerve. Of course, it feels like there are almost as many posts alleging TDS as there are posts about Trump. Thinking about it for a while, it seems to me that the likely function of the TDS label is to avoid confronting the critiques. This happened for the previous couple years in the form of “Trump isn’t relevant anymore!” Now that it’s clear that this argument was invalid, it’s been replaced by just simply the labeling the criticizing posters “deranged”.

Of course both sides try to avoid actually having to deal with their side’s shortcomings. A legitimate criticism of Biden will often be met, not with a defense of Biden, but an attack on Trump. However, the TDS label (and its new analog DDS) is a more efficient deflection mechanism, as it’s so versatile that it requires virtually no thought. Trump was found with government documents in his house? TDS. Trump called people vermin? TDS. Trump tried to install fake electors? TDS.

By my calculation, this thread has garnered about 1.85 posts per day, including those alleging TDS. If it is deranged for a forum of people to comment less than twice per day about a former/possible future president under dozens of indictments, one wonders what comment frequency would be required for the posters to not be considered deranged. 1.0 per day? 0.5? 0.005?

Regardless, I think the TDS label blocks productive conversation. As the critics of cancel culture argue, rightly IMO, our intellectual opponents should be disputed not demonized. Just calling the other side deranged performs the latter without offering any of the former.

When a (former) president of the U.S. is found to be a criminal AND a threat to democracy, it's kinda big news.

A lot to like in your post. I do think there is plenty of Biden policy support on here that isn’t simply “he’s not Trump” however. Pages of it. For his gaffes, though, you are probably right. Hard to take Biden to task for saying “China” when he meant “Canada” when the last guy thought the continental army took the airports by force at valley forge.

So Trump is appealing Chutkan's denial of his total presidential immunity defense and his lawyers are stating that they won't comply with any of the proceedings until that process is complete.

    Someone jail this guy already.
