To start with, they established "Trump Org 2" as a legal entity.

Its been so peaceful not seeing his tweets everyday. Looking at this just gives me a case of PTSD. How did we get to the point that this emotional 5-year old became the leader of the USA?

Trump has redefined the term Teflon Don. But if Fox News turns on him he is truly done. They made him, and they can destroy him.

even Ann Coulter is dumping on him now. Bet the wedding isn't such a joyous occasion with a sullen and angry DT stomping around the grounds

Right-Wing Pundit Ann Coulter Tells Trump to Shut Up Forever After Midterm (msn.com)

On Friday, Ann Coulter, the noted conservative pundit and longtime Donald Trump loyalist, had harsh words for the former president in the wake of the midterm election results.
    .....................................
In a tweet posted Friday, Coulter wrote that Trump needs to "shut up," while also highlighting his failure to succeed despite presiding over a majority GOP Congress for two years, and the fact that he gave important government positions to unqualified loyalists.

"To Trump: You had your chance, with a Republican House and Senate," Coulter wrote. "You handed domestic policy to your son-in-law and Gary Cohn. You handed foreign policy to your son-in-law and a country that gave your son-in-law $2 billion. Shut the f*** up, forever."

I think Coulter has been plenty of critical of him for several years. But has Fox turned on him? I'd be really suprised.

I think it would be hella funny if the DA announced an indictment during Trump’s self aggrandizement tomorrow.

did he cost them the elections or just do enough to keep them close with his MAGA army?

Will the trumpettes stay home if the orange one doesn't direct them to vote and will the loss of the trumpettes hurt the party more than the loss of the indy's?

Surprised that the DA gave him a deal if he is blaming it all on himself and others at Trump Org and claiming that DT and family were not involved when everyone knows that nothing happened there without DT approving it.

Trump Org.'s longtime CFO testifies at company's fraud trial (msn.com)

Donald Trump’s longtime finance chief took the witness stand Tuesday at the Trump Organization’s criminal tax fraud trial, making his long-awaited turn as the star prosecution witness after pleading guilty to evading taxes on $1.7 million in company-paid perks, including a Manhattan apartment and luxury cars.
    ..
Weisselberg’s testimony is required as part of a plea agreement he reached in August. If he testifies truthfully and meets other terms of the deal, he’ll be sentenced to five months in jail and could be released with good behavior after about 100 days. Otherwise, he could be sentenced to up to 15 years in prison.
    ..............
In pleading guilty, the 75-year-old Weisselberg pinned blame for the scheme on himself and other top company executives, including senior vice president and controller, Jeffrey McConney, who testified for the trial’s first five days.

The Trump Organization has denied wrongdoing. Its lawyers allege that Weisselberg concocted the scheme on his own, without Trump or the Trump family’s knowledge, and that the company didn’t benefit from his actions. If convicted, the company could be fined more than $1 million.

I wouldn't be all that sure. Although the Republican establishment and even the conservative media appear to be turning on Trump, my guess is that the overwhelming majority of MAGA nation probably still stick with their Dear Leader. I would also add that even establishment Republicans like Ted Cruz and Lindsey Graham have hedged their bets indicating that they would still support Trump should he receive the party's nomination.

I would add that when discussing the relationship between Trump and the Republican establishment the quote from the Brokeback Mountain by one of the gay cowboys comes immediately to mind "I can't quit you". In the end the odds are that once again the establishment could end up embracing the Orange One as they did in 2016 after trying to stop him in the Republican primaries or in 2021 when they criticized him after the failed insurrection of January 6 before symbolically and possibly literally genuflecting before him a few days later.

    Couple of interesting things.

Weisselberg still works for Trump Org and is still actively managing projects.

and this appears to conflict with other press that he would not implicate DT or his family in the fraud scheme

Weisselberg: Trump 'authorized' tax fraud scheme at heart of his business' criminal trial (msn.com)

On Tuesday, Rolling Stone reported that Allen Weisselberg, the longtime top accountant for the Trump Organization, testified at trial that former President Donald Trump was aware of — and personally approved — the fraudulent accounting for which his family business is now under criminal indictment.

"Former Trump Organization chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg testified Tuesday that Donald Trump personally green-lighted untaxed benefits that are the center of a Manhattan criminal trial against several of the ex-president’s eponymous companies — including a gratis residence in New York City," reported Victoria Bekiempis. "'The rent was authorized by Donald Trump,' Weisselberg said less than two hours into his time on the stand in State Supreme Court in Manhattan. The septuagenarian, who sported a deep gray suit and pale blue tie, spoke matter of factly."
    ..............................
In addition to this revelation, Weisselberg reportedly shocked officials in the courtroom by revealing that, despite wide reporting that the Trump family fired Weisselberg from his CFO position following his indictment to minimize the Trump Organization's legal exposure, he was secretly still being paid and still doing all the same work he was doing before his supposed termination.

Pubs face a serious dilemma - Trump still holds sway on a large sector of the Republican voting block. But unlike 2016 when he was a political "unknown" and still had an aura of being that "outsider" that will clean up the swamp (LMAO / he IS the swamp), and undoubtedly garnered independent and overwhelming white voter support, he now has a track record.

The Jan 6th committe, the midterm elections, the (faux news / trump divorce) and a growing collective of conservatives proclaiming "never-again" .............. it seems to me that his announcement is more of an attempt to try to maintain "agency" in political circles, and of course to stay ahead of what may be a prison sentence and surely another 1/2 dozen bankruptcies.

From what I gather, following the conservative pundit circles, is that a growing cadre of Republican operatives do not see Trump "electable" with some even proclaiming that Trump is a "dead weight / sure loser" for the presidency in 2024, even against Biden.

Interestingly the GOP now has their "NEW" shiny toy, aka Ron DeSantis of Florida.

Ron fits all the "mouse-traps" for Republican electability.

For those that have not noticed, the GOP's new political mantra has changed a bit. While the preservation of Corporate Control of all things associated with being a citizen of the U.S.A. still remains in full effect (Tax Breaks for the Wealthy, and deregulation, for Industy to impose it's will), the NEW third rail of GOP ideology is now behavioral control of all citizens.

    Those controls include:
1)Control of Reproductive Rights and Womens "agency" in society.
2)Religous adherence, or in short, enforced "CHRISTIANITY".
3)Caucasian Control of Gov't policy, wealth distribution, and the judicial system.
4)Sexual Rights / Sexual Expression cancellation for those not conforming to the "King-James" version of these things.
5)Cancellation of "Academia" and the acceptance of anybody's opinion on anything as long as that opinion generates "money".
6)Cancellation of Science and the Scientific method.
7)Cancellation of the Historical Record, especially as it relates to the founding, discovery, exploration and implementation of American Capatalism in the USA. (See Slavery) as example #1.
8)Support of anti science propogandists (American Capatalists) that claim Climate Change is a "fiction".
9)Shifting all tax burden to the poor or rapidly declining middle class.
10)Continued enthusiastic annhiliation of the planets atmosphere, eco-systems, fresh water and inititives to turn the entire Pacific Ocean into a "plastic" garbage dump.

Ron checks all the boxs here. Personally I just wonder what the GOP does in Gov't outside of attempting to legislate behavioral control over its citizens, cut taxs on the only group that can actually afford them, or deregulating everything?

    Anyone???

DT drew the same judge for his most recent lawsuit that threw out his last one while admonishing the attorneys for trying to use the court system to promote a political beef. Hope he hits them with some fines this time if possible

Trump just ran into 'extremely bad luck' in his lawsuit against Letitia James: legal reporter (msn.com)

"Extremely bad luck for Trump," reported Politico's Kyle Cheney. "He filed a lawsuit against NYAG Letitia James in Florida state court. James yesterday removed the case to federal court and it landed before ... Judge Donald Middlebrooks, who just days ago sanctioned Trump attorneys for a frivolous lawsuit."

Some of Trump's own legal advisers urged the Florida attorneys who drafted the James complaint that the case was frivolous and would fail, and they unsuccessfully staged an intervention to stop the suit from being submitted to a court.

Middlebrooks just last week sanctioned some of Trump's lawyers over a lawsuit filed against Hillary Clinton and dozens of other political enemies that the judge called an intentional abuse of the legal system. “These were political grievances masquerading as legal claims,” said Middlebrooks, who dismissed Trump’s lawsuit in September. “This cannot be attributed to incompetent lawyering. It was a deliberate use of the judicial system to pursue a political agenda.”

Barr seems sure DOJ has enough evidence to indict trump.
So why go the SC route? My concern is that by using a SC the process is delayed 18-24 months and trump runs out the clock (his).

It does seem a conflict of interest to have Biden’s justice department investigating his own political rival, so I think the SC is a proper approach here. I would certainly like Trump’s DOJ to appoint a special counsel if he were investigating Biden during an election cycle.

And just because it’s a special counsel, I don’t think it’s necessarily going to delay the investigation years. If it is already far along, it could be rather short. Garland made a specific mention of the speed of the process, so I think he well understands the importance of expediency in this case.
