Normally I would say: what the hell standing does an individual member of Congress have to sue the President (or a former President)?

Had to remind myself that technically, they are all (as individuals) victims in this. But Id still rather see lawsuits from people who suffered actual harm, such as those who died, and the families of those who died. Even the individuals and families of those on the pro-Trump side should be pissed when they wake up and realize they were lied to and used as pawns in a false narrative concocted by the most corrupt scum of a President this country has ever seen.

My opinion is that the legal merits of all of the so-called lawsuits or and or criminal prosecutions is purely terra incognita that no one can intelligently evaluate. We have never been here before, prosecuting or suing an ex-President. I don't even think it happened in our first century, but there may have been an exception. But either way, this is something very different, and I don't think we can analyze any of these lawsuits and/or potential criminal prosecutions in the way we would of an individual that is not an ex-President. By that I mean I don't know how likely these are to succeed or prevail, independent of the legal merits. I would not want to be the judge on any of them

poor guy lost his helipad at Maralago. W Palm doesn't allow helipads but Trump had one as one of the privileges of being potus. Next up is lawsuit after W Palm Beach city attorney said he had no objection re: his ability to live there. Seems that he is a Trump supporter. Technically employees can be housed there and Trump is an employee. Zoning records have his attorney at the hearing clearly stating that he would not ever live there

Why has Trump’s Mar-a-Lago helipad been removed? (msn.com)

Trump’s fabled Mar-a-Lago estate has once again hit headlines this week as the demolition crews moved in to remove the presidential helipad from the lawn. Installed four years ago, the helipad was a one-of-a-kind on this moneyed Palm Beach island but when Donald Trump lost the election to Joe Biden he also lost a whole host of perks and privileges too

Rudy had no choice but to stop representing Trump. They are co-defendants in the lawsuit you posted about.

And I suspect he has seen enough to know that this case will not tarnish his reputation

It's my understanding that the Manhattan D.A. needs Trump's tax returns for this case, and the Supreme Court hasn't yet ruled whether anyone can have them. Trump's tax returns seem to be more closely guarded than the gold at Fort Knox.

The FEC has some work to do here.

Trump Shifted Campaign-Donor Money Into His Private Business After Losing The Election

Donald Trump’s reelection campaign, which never received a cent from the former president, moved an estimated $2.8 million of donor money into the Trump Organization—including at least $81,000 since Trump lost the election.

In addition, one of the campaign’s joint-fundraising committees, which collects money in partnership with the Republican Party, shifted about $4.3 million of donor money into Trump’s business from January 20, 2017, to December 31, 2020—at least $331,000 of which came after the election.

The money covered the cost of rent, airfare, lodging and other expenses. All the payments are laid out in filings the campaign submitted to the Federal Election Commission. Representatives for the Trump Organization, the Trump campaign and the Republican National Committee did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Karma coming around the corner. Couldn't happen to a more deserving individual

Supreme Court again rejects Trump’s bid to shield tax returns, other financial records from Manhattan prosecutor (msn.com)

The Supreme Court on Monday rejected former president Donald Trump’s last-chance effort to keep his private financial records from the Manhattan district attorney, ending a long and drawn-out legal battle. After a four-month delay, the court denied Trump’s motion in a one-sentence order with no recorded dissents.

Vance’s office has assembled a large team of investigators, including from outside the office, who are expected to dive into the tax records quickly once they are obtained. They are being sought not directly from Trump, but from his longtime accounting firm, Mazars, which has said it will cooperate with the subpoena once court challenges end.

[N.Y. prosecutor hires forensic accounting experts as Trump criminal probe escalates]
Forensic accounting experts from FTI Consulting are expected to assist prosecutors in assessing whether the Trump Organization manipulated property values for tax breaks, or to obtain favorable loan rates, The Post previously reported.

The investigation is fairly developed but the tax returns are an integral part of the picture. The Supreme Court order — allowing Vance to execute the subpoena — could mean a lot of work is ahead for investigators as the records are voluminous, spanning eight years.

Donnie jr deposed over misuse of inaugural funds. Wonder if Sr cares if jr goes to jail

Donald Trump Jr. deposed by DC attorney general as part of inaugural funds lawsuit (msn.com)

Donald Trump Jr. was deposed as part of the Washington, DC, attorney general's lawsuit alleging the misuse of Trump inaugural funds, according to a new court filing, the latest investigation in which the former President's children have surfaced.

In a court document dated Tuesday, DC Attorney General Karl Racine's office revealed the former President's son was deposed on February 11.

The filing states that Trump's deposition "raised further questions about the nature" of a hotel invoice Racine's office has been investigating. The attorney general's office alleges that the Trump Organization signed a contract with the Loews Madison hotel for $49,358.92 for a block of rooms during the 2017 inauguration, and that the invoice was later forwarded to the Presidential Inaugural Committee, which then paid the bill, according to the filing.

Trump Jr. and his brother Eric Trump, executive vice presidents of the Trump Organization who run the real estate company on a day-to-day basis, have increasingly surfaced in investigations as authorities' interest turns to properties the former President's sons are involved in.

Tax returns have been turned over to the DA. How much longer before congressional oversight gets their copy?

Trump tax returns are now in the hands of the Manhattan district attorney (msn.com)

Former President Donald Trump's tax records have been turned over to Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. following the Supreme Court's rejection of the ex-president's last-ditch effort to keep the documents shielded.

A spokesperson for Vance, Danny Frost, confirmed that a subpoena was enforced on Monday against Trump's longtime accounting firm, Mazars USA, hours after the nation's highest court rejected Trump's appeal.

The subpoena demanded Trump's personal and corporate records dating to 2011, including his tax returns. Trump bucked modern precedent by refusing to release his tax returns to the public even as he mounted two campaigns for the presidency.

Oh it's game on now. The Manhattan DA is likely to have a field day. The fiction that is likely there would put Shakespeare to shame.:D:D

Trump is facing probes from 5 independently elected investigators - CNNPolitics

CNN)Five independently elected investigators have turned their attention to former President Donald Trump, a sign his legal woes are mounting as he no longer enjoys the protections once afforded to him by the Oval Office.

Trump is now facing inquiries run by elected officials from Georgia to New York to Washington with only their constituents to answer to. Most are Democrats, but one key investigation was launched by a Georgia Republican who has faced heavy criticism from Trump since the election.
