Trump wishes happy Memorial Day, including to ‘scum’ that was ‘trying to destroy our country’

My outrage burns hot too, as a retired combat vet of 20+ years with some decorations, participation medals, etc. I have the patience to wait until the day is over to voice my disgust at him for his contemptible actions as CinC. I will not pile on the dishonor he demonstrated with his campaign speech-level comments. I'll wait. I won't be party to it.

I've sent too many fallen service members home on their final ride home as part of my job. I watched hard men and women openly weep at their losses. More than I care to remember. There were more than a few transfer cases we sent on their final flight containing nothing more than a blood-stained sleeve/pants leg, or boot. The boot usually had a dog tag attached to it. I was there when a service member died while being loaded onto the medevac plane. I've been to too many military funerals. I've lost 5 military friends to suicide(the hidden casualties of war), 15 to cancer, and a few to heart attacks. I've missed many special events in service to my country. So yeah, I think I've more than earned the right to ask for a day to let it be. You can disagree, and that's okay.

Dyno I forgot to thank your husband for his service and you for dealing with the issues only a military spouse knows. A good spouse can make or break a career. Thank you.

I expect more of ourselves than our elected officials tbh. You obviously expect more of them than yourself or other common folk do. Try and stay with us, we're talking about Memorial Day here. Not some other time he ran his pie hole so stop spinning the crap.

It's comedy gold floating the unrealistic unicorn-level idea of expecting "more" from elected officials. Their historic and well-documented level of "caring" is something I can do without. Expecting their behaviors to change is like beating your head against a wall. You can keep it if it's your thing.

Now that we know who is the outrage police, we can ask the numbers of days/hours to wait to respond. Perhaps do us a favor and post the appropriate time frame or wait per incident? Or perhaps simply get over yourself?

It's nothing like that. Those are public events, and the minister isn't ranting out verbal abuse against half the attendees. Too Hot is a limited, semi-private online board to share thoughts. I'm amazed you think there's a parallel here.

 

I thank you sincerely for your service. I have nothing but admiration and respect for combat veterans, and it saddens me that you think our responses to Trump's Memorial Day "greeting," are a sign of disrespect or indifference to their service and suffering. I believe I can unequivocally assure you, on behalf of all of Too Hot, that this is not the case. Please excuse any perceived insensitivity, it was not intentional.

 

Again, he could not give a damn about the fallen soldiers or their families. It is all about him.

Americans that voted for Obama should be proud of their vote, I know my wife and I are and we assume absolutely no responsibility for the election of a con man. (A great one tho). . Living in SFla, I regularly told Rs what they were voting for, tho I grossly underestimated his self dealing criminality.

Trump is your guy, own it, be proud of who you supported and regularly defend her.
