Neither did I which made me question the article; however, I looked it up and they do. (Bonus: if you go to their home page it turns out they offer both PBS and NPR content.)

Trump continues to send a message to bad illegals and bad citizens. It's all about optics. If you are the worst of the worst... it's El Salvador for you. If you have done something horrific, you are off to Guantanamo. Alcatraz is just a symbol. We have had no law and order for years in the blue states. Our society is riddled with mentally ill people who think they can do whatever they want. Trump is letting them know that they will be extracted from a civil society and go to a place no one wants to go.

So much fail in this post - except for one thing; it IS all about optics. The felon President is a showman, not a problem solver, and his low information voters devour it. To your point about "no law and order in blue states for years", that's simply a steaming pile of crap. There is crime everywhere, in red and blue states. Interestingly, according to a Business Insider article I just read, in 2024 the 10 states with the highest incidence of dangerous, violet crime were South Carolina, Georgia, Colorado, Alabama, Oklahoma, Florida, Arkansas, Texas, Mississippi, and Louisiana. Overwhelmingly, RED. But you do you and enjoy your steady diet of misinformation.
Last point, if people are truly mentally ill, do you really think they believe they can do "whatever they want"? Or, is their behavior being compromised by their illness? Those people need treatment, not jails. Try to remember, alternative facts aren't facts.

This is true, and one of them is president. How about those optics?

There is crime in both red and blue states - regardless of who the President is. Do you think Trump is going to suddenly change the trajectories of all that crime in red and blue states? Did he eliminate crime in his first term? Gimme a freakin' break. But, reopening Alcatraz... that should surely do it, right? Again, nothing but a showman with no real solutions... but enjoy your cult.

You voted for a convicted felon who says he doesn't know if he's supposed to uphold the constitution.

Hasn't thought about it until now, but a convicted felon wanting to open more prisons is a bold move.

Alcatraz has been closed as a prison for 62 years. The cell doors are so rusty, they don't close right. There is no electricity, and no waste disposal. Lead paint is everywhere. To rehab and refit this "stable ruin," would be a prohibitively expensive endeavor, just throwing taxpayer money into the flaming dumpster that symbolizes the Trump administration.

Just another offering from the mind of President Brain Fart.

    Interesting …..

Trump To Expand Alcatraz By Putting Up Fence Around San Francisco

U.S. — A new era of dealing with depraved lawbreakers dawned today, as President Donald Trump vowed to reopen and expand Alcatraz by putting up a fence around the entire city of San Francisco.

The new plan, which administration insiders said would be implemented immediately, would turn the city into a prison colony for America's worst criminals, most of whom already reside in San Francisco.

"It's a tremendous idea, frankly," Trump told reporters. "We're going to create one big, beautiful prison city, just like the British did with Australia. We will round up all the bad people in our country and ship them off to Alcatraz, which will now encompass all of San Francisco. We're going to build a big fence all around the city and make California pay for it. Most of the awful people are already in San Francisco anyway, so it's a great idea. We just need it to be bigger."

When asked what effect this expansion would have on other Bay Area residents, Trump was resolute. "If they were good people, they wouldn't live there," he said. "Nothing will make America safer and more secure than fencing off San Francisco from the rest of the country. They're bad folks there. All of them. We'll make sure Nancy Pelosi is in there, too."

Ya, cuz ya know if Trump were President in 2024, then there wouldn't be a specific 10 states out of 50 which had the highest rates of crime. Cuz the felon would have eliminated all crime and everything.

Time to step up your drive-bys maybe? This was a total fail.

    Imagine actually believing this.

Right now we're in the Golden Age of low-crime, due to criminals receiving the proper "optics." As delivered by the grifting felon Trump.

If we ever lose the Great Man Trump, we might descend into another blue state-esqe hellscape where rampant crime is everywhere.

I'm visualizing romance novels, and Conan the Barbarian book covers, but both with Trump as the great conquering hero. Of course, these novels are in the possession of his die-hard supporters.
