I don't really understand. During the Jan 6 riots, Trump could have called the Sec of Defense and expedited the Natl Guard to quell the violence, but he didn't as testimony reveals. Instead he sat in his dining room watching the violence unfold on TV.

Yet, one 19 yo gets assaulted and he calls in the Natl Guard - what's the difference here?

    It is as described above.

It’s bad because a lot of these young kids, like 13 to 14, will commit crimes and then get arrested and then are back on the street the same day since they do not have to post bail. That leads them to believe that getting arrested is not a big deal and since the are juveniles, they cannot be tried as adults. They can only go to Juvie, if they are not able to make a deal to do some other diversionary program. So older criminals know to use younger kids to do the actual crime, like car jacking, and they younger kids know if they actually get caught, they will be released the same or next day. This allows a somewhat sophisticated criminal system to exist and the DC City Council is not interested in fixing it.

The two girls that killed the Uber driver in ‘21 by Nats park could not be tried as adults so they got sent to juvie until they are 21. They were 15 and 13 when the crime occurred.

If you have to give out air tags, aren’t you treating the symptoms instead of the disease?

Imagine being a federal agent being tasked to investigate the worst of the worst and now you have to walk the beat checking to see if the homeless are trying to set up tents

From what I am hearing, the federal agents are not going to be doing that. It sounds like they are coming in to surge investigations and make arrests for federal crimes while freeing up DC Metro PD to do things like clear homeless encampments.

No clue of it will work but the staff officers that are tasked with figuring these things out seem to be coming up woth some COA’s.

What kinds of federal crimes are the FBI likely to run into on the streets?

ederal crimes that can occur on the street include drug trafficking, weapons trafficking, and violent crimes like robbery and kidnapping, often involving criminal street gangs. Additionally, crimes like human trafficking, bank robbery, and certain cybercrimes can also involve street-level activity.

The FBI isn't around to prevent crimes. They investigate crimes, so why are they being activated?

Probably a lot of warrant work and setting overall tone. Investigative work vs street crime are different animals, but most fed agencies have violent offender units who operate in that arena.

The courts as much as liberal cities set up the homeless mess. With SCOTUS now possibly resetting things. Pendulum policies that needed centering. Homelessness because of medical bankruptcy or depression is a different beast than homelessness because of life long addictions, criminal behavior and/ or severe mental illness. City centers tend to attract crazies. Ymmv.

Decades ago, I asked the folks at the homeless advocacy to ask folks not to crap on the property of our nearby church. Their response was that I should be talking to folks to put bathrooms for them. That type of mentality is now backfiring. Two points can often be valid, but most can only see one.

This is outside my wheelhouse but I would assume anything that happens on federally owned property could be charged as a federal crime.
