Tried to bump the old thread about trump's lying, but it's been removed.
    Here's the latest count.

President Trump made 8,158 false or misleading claims in his first two years

Two years after taking the oath of office, President Donald Trump has made 8,158 false or misleading claims, according to The Fact Checker's database that analyzes, categorizes and tracks every suspect statement uttered by the president.

...The president averaged nearly 5.9 false or misleading claims a day in his first year in office. But he hit nearly 16.5 a day in his second year, almost triple the pace.

In the first 100 days, the president made 492 unsupported claims. He managed to top that number just in the first three weeks of 2019. In October, as he was barnstorming the country in advance of the midterm elections, he made more than 1,200 false or misleading claims.

Not surprisingly, the biggest source of misleading claims is immigration, with a tally that has grown with the addition of 300 immigration claims in the past three weeks, for a total of 1,433.

I'd rather trust a pathological liar than someone who confuses me with the truth. It's too much hard work to think for myself so I'll just let somebody else do it for me. And the bigger the liar the better.

I guess it would be accurate to describe a pathological liar totally divorced from the truth as deranged.

In the case of Trump deranged and calculating aren't mutually exclusive.

Well he's got a long way to go to catch the mainstream media! They have made lying, disception and disinformation a prolific artform!

Maybe that needs it's own thread. It would be a big one.

Conceding that the mainstream media is far from perfect, most of their errors are the result of sloppy journalism rather than malicious intent and when they do screw up they almost always publish retractions. The only time I recall Trump ever retracting any of his lies was when he finally admitted that Obama was born in Hawaii after pushing the birther narrative for something like four years. Not only does Trump constantly lie, he repeats the same lies over and over again even after the lies have been debunked. One example is the myth that most illegal drugs are smuggled through unguarded sections of the southern border, when in fact the overwhelming majority of illegal drugs enter through legal ports of entry, by sea or air or even through the mail.

The only time Bill Clinton told the truth was when he said he was going to raise taxes.

    At least Trump lowered taxes.

Yes he did and the tax cut for the wealthiest Americans helped explode the deficit. Clinton's decision to raise taxes was probably a factor in the very few budget surpluses that we experienced both before and since,

    Yes.

And also calculating that if he continues to make outrageous claims or statements the media will continue to keep him front and center where he wants to be.

It hasn’t stopped since the debates.

My take? He talks more than so many politicians.

And so he naturally is going to say the most "alternate facts." More means more.

He is a con man without guiding principles. He will say whatever sounds goods, whatever he thinks supports his position even if devoid of facts or truth, whatever it takes to get your vote or last dollar. Grifter through and through.
