So, here's the question I want an answer to: Why can't we even discuss expanding Medicare? Given that we have so many hard numbers to work with, including the current payroll deduction (1.4%), cost and the demographic we can peg that cost to? I'm not saying it would work or that it wouldn't be expensive, but I'd certainly like to see the numbers and get an idea what that 1.4% would need to increase to. If it's over 10%, then I'd argue it would defeat itself.

We treat our elderly like they don't matter. There are old retired people living off of $15,000/year after they pay their medicare premiums. Taking better care of them does not make us a socialist country. Any type of government with corrupt leaders is bad. I think the dems wanted to expand it down to age 55.
