    Another fantastic brand new tax on Americans, courtesy of Donald Trump. Read his lips, “lots and lots of new taxes”.

    They've only just begun to result in higher prices. Wait until they really start working.

    That's okay with gas being 45 cents a gallon cheaper here than it was a year ago. It saves me money with two vehicles commuting 30 miles or more a day. It should also lower shipping prices that wholesalers can use to offset tariffs if they choose. I can use my savings to pay a little more for some cheap shoes or a hat made in Indonesia.

    In what way? Have we seen a boom in manufacturing employment? Have we seen a bunch of new trade deals with lower tariffs than we had before April? Have we seen a big increase in real income?

    Here is the big question: what, specifically, is the goal of the tariffs?

    And when the Saudis decide to constrict oil supply again? BTW, freight costs more this year than last year.

    Okay, so freight is more expensive...now. So that doesn't seem to fit with your point, does it?

    I think it see your point, and it's brilliant;

    Charge consumers more with a tax on imports, but offset that with cheap gasoline....

    Then when oil goes back up, eliminate Trump's tax on imports.

    So even if that fiction could work .... American consumers are really no better off either way. Didn't the Trump guy say he was going to lower prices, not offset them with higher tariff taxes?

    Also, notice something; the consumer is no better off, having to pay for the tariffs. How about Trump's tax cuts for the rich though? They're here no matter what. Funny how it always works out that way for Trump. ;)

    Denying that the tariffs aren't inflationary is kind of like denying that there wasn't a housing bubble in 2006. That is until the bubble burst in 2007 taking the entire economy down in late 2007, 2008 and 2009.

    Who would have thought we’d see the day when republicans are cheering new taxes on themselves…. Trump has Jedi level mind control over them.

    What I'm hearing from Republicans is that we could raise taxes for say, national healthcare as long as gas stays relatively inexpensive

    So what will happen if Trump carries through his threat to heavily tariff Russia on oil and anybody who uses Russian oil?

    And the price of gas still remains a mystery to folks. Damn global commodities.
