The question is what to do in the interim as the new ballpark will be built in a few years.

 

What any Florida native would do in that circumstance, blue tarps!

 

Follow the Jaguar model and play home games over seas

Think rays ownership would prefer Canada.

 

You know you’ve got to have a team of lawyers just to do your taxes-you have to file in every state/country you play in-earn your money in……

 

Isn't there insurance on the dome? I'm not sure of deductable.

 

If the Rays have such small crowds aren't there plenty of minor league parks within a few hours that they could work something out with and their schedules? Maybe if they tour around between several different parks in the west and central Florida area they might increase their attendance before going into the new stadium. I get most of the parks are owned or affiliated to one certain organization but there's got to be a few choices out there. That said, I hate to see them end up at Disney WWS

 

Think their spring training park is nearby. Other teams will likely throw fits about playing in a tiny park though.

 

When it’s all said and done it will be about the only thing that seems to matter—DOLLAR BUCKS!

 

It's in Port Charlotte. Logistically playing at the Yankees spring training stadium (Legends Field) which is right across from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa would make a ton of sense but it only has 10,000 seats.

Maybe they can move to Gainesville and play at Condron Ballpark for a few years?

 

I think it will be Wide World of Sports facility in Orlando.

 

Not looking good for the Rays future in St.Pete

 

It's my memory that the final competition between Hillsborough and Pinellas came down to the Trop site and one in the vicinity of USF, which is nearly and hour closer to Gvl. I always felt I would have made the trip to a north Tampa ballpark a few times each summer. As it turned out, I've been to the Trop fewer than a dozen times. Even given limits from the infirmities of aging, my hopes for a Tampa stadium are somewhat brighter.

 

Well, it's not over till the fat lady sings, but she is certainly warming up. Sucks for those few hard core Rays fans, but don't really think StPete needs the Rays, downtown has become a trendy place and there are cranes everywhere.

Yankee fans s/b happy with the temp game site at Steinbrenner field across from RayJay.. Personally, id be more inclined to go to a game there than across the bay to the ugly Trop anyway.

 

Doubt it will be Tampa, with the Bucs and Lightning both wanting handouts for new/renovated places in the near future.
