I heard Graham Hall say he'll only play four games this year and then play a full season next year.

Hi Ahab, my understanding is that one cannot transfer to another team (in conference) without sitting out,
at least thats the rule in the April 24 transfer cycle. (As far as I understand it)

Transfering out of conference is another story, i think the players are immediately eligible.

The ncaa has lost their ability to enforce the sit out rules. I'd imagine if you threatened to sue the sec for the same thing, you'd get what you wanted too. The previous school also has the option to waive the penalty.

I don't think that's right. UGA WR Burton played at Bama right away and UGA got transfer WRs from Missouri and another SEC team.

You can play in the SEC the next year if you enter in the first portal window. If you enter in the second window and transfer within the SEC you have to sit out. I can’t believe that hasn’t been challenged in court or voluntarily done away with yet

Correct - he must not have red-shirted at AF (I don't know if they do that at the service academies).

Let him practice the first 8 games and play the last 4 games. The bowl
    game(s) don't count towards redshirting.

I think they should do the same thing for Big Dez so he can get healthy and the Buck LB that tore his ACL late last year.

Would anyone on the board like to see McClain? I can't say I would be overjoyed. But perhaps the kid got a wake up call
and can reset to make a roster. That whole commit episode was quite a let down, and apparantly not even Neon could
straighten that young mans head out at Colorado.

Sounds like he had issues with the staff but you know what? Best of luck wherever he ends up at but im willing to bet, unfortunately for him, he may not end up at a program (and yes i know UF haven’t been “glamorous” record wise recently) like UF.

You’d think Dion would be right up his alley except for the talent part.

New transfer rule allows for immediate eligibility

A new NCAA transfer rule will allow all undergraduate athletes to transfer and play immediately if they meet specific academic requirements, as the Division I Council on Wednesday approved emergency legislation announced by the NCAA.

The decision isn't final until the meetings end on Thursday, and the rule still needs to be formally approved by the NCAA's executive board Monday, but that is expected to be a formality. The rule will provide immediately eligibility to any athletes who have transferred during the 2023-24 academic year, including the football players who entered the transfer portal Tuesday and during this window -- as long as they are academically eligible and meeting progress-towards-degree requirements at their new school.

The legislation will not limit the number of times an athlete can transfer -- and there are still two transfer windows -- but they can't transfer midyear and play for a second school in the same season. Although the new rule is tied to academic progress, some in college athletics have expressed concern about the long-term implications for graduation rates.

I believe someone posted that spring transfer portal counts for TX and OU. So those are probably out as well.

But as I said the SEC still has an intra-conference rule

NCAA approves immediate eligibility for all transfers, but this SEC rule is still a roadblock

Graduation rates? Not sure education is a priority to these athletes who can hardly put a sentence together.

I'm more on your side of the fence than "welcome back brother".
Think Cormani was a little too slick with his "playing UF" for suckers to suit me.
