I think of it as treading water. Would you rather continue treading water for the next 2-3 years, or try a new coach that can hopefully start propelling us back in the right direction. We aren’t drowning, but we also aren’t getting anywhere either. I would compare it to being a NFL team like the Washington Redskins, in that they win enough games to have some hope at making the playoffs, but no one thinks they have a realistic shot at the Super Bowl. And they win just enough to be picking outside the top 10-15 every year, which means the low-risk franchise QBs are already gone and they have to either pay free agent money, mortgage future draft picks, or take a flyer on drafting a QB.
