Yeah, all these months are a bit silly, but in fairness Biden doesnt remember how many months are in a year at this point and Trump is probably arrogant enough to try to add a 13th.

So either way it's dumb. :)

How ironic that they want to celebrate the hard work women did for equal rights while they work to take them away.

It's also men's mental health month, maybe some men in here should celebrate that by finding a good psychologist .

The SAVE act allows men and the "community" to have a say in women's healthcare (aka abortion). The part of the bill that states you have to show your birth certificate and your legal name has to match it in order to register to vote. Women get married and change their names. The Heritage foundation believes there should be one vote per household and it should be the man that votes. The Americans that DEI benefited the most were white and black women.

The overturning of Roe was a big one. Georgia now wants to follow TX and allow for prosecution should a woman leave the state to have an abortion. Women have died or have been forced to carry their rapist's baby.

Other than that, I guess no effort to take away rights, until they find another one.

Do you know you also have to show your marriage license at the Social Security Office if you want to claim the 50% benefit of your husband's Social Security if you changed your last name? If you earned more than enough to have SS benefits greater than the 50% there is not an issue. Is SS taking a woman's rights away?

That seems pretty stupid as a comparison. You need to bring the marriage certificate for that regardless of the name change for SS...because it requires proof of marriage (you are eligible for the benefits not because of your name but because of your marriage- and the federal government doesn't run marriage records). Voting requires no proof of marriage. Married and unmarried women are both supposed to be able to vote...

Thanks for pointing out an antiquated law, because they are assuming you took your husband's name in marriage. It's an easy fix though isn't it? It's not keeping you from your right to vote.

Agree and taking your birth certificate or marriage license with you to the voter registration office is an easy fix as well.

You would have to show your birth certificate and not everyone has that. It also costs money to obtain a viable copy. Just like the idea of having to show ID to vote. People who are mostly impacted are the poor. They don't have the money to pay for and ID if they don't drive, and they don't have the money to pay for a replacement birth certificate.
For some reason it doesn't mention a marriage license - from factcheck.org:

According to the bill, valid forms of documentary proof include a U.S. passport; a REAL ID-compliant ID that indicates U.S. citizenship, such as an enhanced driver’s license, which is available in a few states; a government-issued photo ID showing the U.S. as the applicant’s birthplace, such as a passport card; and a U.S. military ID if shown alongside a military record of service showing the U.S. as the applicant’s birthplace.

Applicants may also present other government-issued photo IDs if they are shown alongside a certified birth certificate, a record of birth from a U.S. hospital, adoption records, a consular birth report, a naturalization certificate or an American Indian card with the classification “KIC,” designating U.S. citizenship for Mexican-born members of the Kickapoo tribes of Texas and Oklahoma.

Lol... I'm actually partly with you, Tilly. We should just drop all of these fabricated celebrations of Americans. We're all supposed to be created equal... so let's all celebrate all Americans equally by not picking and choosing certain groups to highlight.

The whole month is just virtue signaling. More and more organizations are opting not to participate.
It’s patronizing. Here.. have a month where you matter… feel good about yourself for all of June and the. We won’t mention you again for the rest of the year. Look… rainbow flags in the store ..yeah… until July 1 and then boom poof gone.
No one and I mean no one bans the alphabet group from shopping in their stores or attending their games or buying their merchandise. No one makes them feel uncomfortable in the establishments. June is t a win for LGBTQP+++
It’s a marketing and greed win for capitalism. That is all.
