How much more clever is Greta than Trump?

When was the last time an investigative journalist won this award or a similar one? Watergate? "Journalists" just love the swamp these days.

Not only was his post off-topic, it was also incorrect. A two-fer.

It's too bad there isn't a way to check these things out before committing to a post. Maybe a "search engine" type of system on a network of information, connected throughout the world, like a web.

I hate to agree with junior too. But I do think Greta is deserving of consideration for it. I sort of said the HK protesters should have 'won' in jest. Time has turned its person of the year into a contest.

You do you, Gatorhead. Feel good, make a small difference in your own way and choose to focus on the stuff that makes you happy. Papers love the bad stuff, but there are many good people out there. Best wishes from over the Pond! :emoji_muscle:

Give Trump a break. He's just pissed that a 16-yo girl is on a magazine cover and he's not allowed to walk through her dressing room when she's half-naked.

“Sadly, Trump's response is predictable in the wake of the Swedish climate activist being named as Time's Person of the Year over him. Trump is a bully. And he has shown time and again that he has no qualms about bullying anyone and everyone. Let's not forget that he poked fun at Carly Fiorina's looks when she was competing with him for the Republican nomination during the 2016 campaign. And in that same campaign, Trump mocked a New York Times reporter by crudely mimicking his physical disability. So that the president of the United States would tell a 16-year-old with Asperger's -- a condition most distinguished by difficulty with social interactions -- to make some friends and, basically, relax, fits nicely into that pattern of behavior.”

As some of us have said before, this goes well beyond simply accepting the ugly things that Trump continually does because your 401k is doing well. It seems clear that this is the kind of behavior that many of his supporters want from their president.
They want someone who mocks, belittles and bullies the folks they don't like. And they're perfectly happy if he has to lie continually to do it.
And, unfortunately, they will be with us long after he is out of office.

I haven't respected Time's person of the year since they gave it to me in 2006. Been downhill ever since. I hope revealing that hasn't destroyed my anonymity on here.

POTUS mocking a kid and his supporters are fine with it. Hell, they would probably chant something ignorant at a rally if trump told them too.
Pathetic. Scared and threatened by a teen girl.

I take this award about as seriously as the SI sportsperson of the year, which was just given to Megan Rapinoe. At least it wasn't Kaepernick. So many hacks, so little time.
